Default psyllium husks

Does anyone know the carb count in psyllium husks. I am finding varied amounts on different brands and wondering what is the real count.

My capsules are 1 carb/1 fiber - its a wash.

Solgar is the maker of the ones I buy.

Psyllium contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber forms a gel when mixed with liquid, while insoluble fiber does not. Insoluble fiber passes through your digestive tract, largely intact.

Soluble fiber is found in oats, peas, beans, certain fruits, and psyllium.

5 grams or 1 1/2 tsp. of pure psyllium husk powder contains 2.3 grams of carbs.

Karen,

I bought a supplement called Konsyl. It is safe for diabetics and supposed to be 100% natural psyllium fiber with no addatives and it says that per rounded teaspoon it has .05 grams of carb and 5 grams of fiber. How can they get away with putting the carbs so low when there is 2.3 carbs per tsp.

Email the manufacturer, sometimes labels have ERRORS on them...

Your question, directed to them, might get you an answer

I don't know. They may be counting both the soluble and insoluble fiber as total fiber.
