Thumbs up Fitday is great!

I found fitday a few days ago, and I think it is a great site!!! It is the perfect way to track your progess and I especially like the way it breaks down all of the food you have eaten to tell you what nutrients you are lacking. Now I know that my food intake and mutivitamin are giving me most of what I need. I just need to add a little calcium and magnesium to my diet. I was very surprised to find out that most of what I am consuming on the induction diet is fat and I have lost 10 pounds in 8 days. I am averaging about 1300 calories/day because it is hard for me to eat more. I have recommended this site to many of my friends that are not following a low-carb diet.

I signed up weeks ago, but didn't think I'd need it. A little while ago I used it - mostly out of boredom - and was I surprised to learn what I was really eating.

It's a great tool and I am discovering new things all the time - I also find it's a great cheat-supressant. When I enter what I am about to eat BEFORE I eat it. "A little bit" of something sounds so harmless, but seeing the true carb counts as revealed in Fitday has changed my mind quite a few times.

I am however puzzled sometimes, too. I just entered some canned green beans. Calories: 20, Fat: 0, Carbs: 4, Protein: 1 - and then Fitday told me it had too many calories...should only have 12.

4 carbs x 4 calories = 16 calories
1 protein x 4 calories = 4 calories

total: 20 calories.....
Where does Fitday come up with 12 only?????

Thumbs up FitDay

FitDay is a powerful tool! Useful for anyone
wanting to eat properly. For anyone trying to
learn a new way of eating, it is invaluable.
No longer am I guessing if what I'm eating is in the
right proportions (Fat/Protein/Carbs).
Thanks to everyone that recommended it.

I suspect that the discrepancy happens because of the fiber in the beans. As fiber is non-digestible, the calories don't count.

You can learn a lot more about FitDay and how to use it by checking out this thread:
