Default Exercise for bulging belly :-)

Hi guys,

I am doing pretty okay regarding weight loss and I go to exercise (twice a week). One thing I want to ask is, I am reducing inches but mostly from Hips and everywhere and that is great but I would be more happy if the inches come off my belly/waist area.

When I exercise I pretty much work my bottom body. I mean I do Tradmills and elliptical trainers most of the time.

Does anybody knows what works for stomach? And if anything I can do at home everyday kind off. What everybody is doing to reduce fat from waist/stomach area?

Thanks

Fat comes off from your whole body. You can't target fat loss any part of your body. This used to be an old idea that everyone thought was true, yet has been proven to not be. Genetics decide where your fat is stored and removed.

What you can do to slim down your waist is "core" exercises, as they draw in and tighten your muscles that may have been lax. Yet you said you exercise regularly, hopefully this is part of it.

I would think sit ups, side bends and crunches to help build up "core strength" would help. I do all of that, but for many months it hasn't helped much-- I am more fit for sure, but my stomach is the same, maybe even larger!
I lose mainly everywhere else so all I can do is try to get my total body fat lower. What you are doing now sounds right to me. I found skipping one meal a day and cutting calories is the only thing that helps at this point. Stay the course, watch carbs, calories and sodium it takes time.

As fat comes off the parts of your body it wants to in its own time you can't do anything special to increase its reduction from a particular part. If you overwork your abdominal muscles all that will happen is that you'll have bigger abdominal muscles pushing your tummy fat out and making your tummy look bigger!! Best to just add some core work to your normal workout sessions and take it gently

Yoga will do it. Yoga is not bad for the knees like people say. My colleague is older than my grandmother and does it. She isn't as flexible, but does it. Yoga toned me after losing 30 lbs, but it is a process. Hate, then understanding, then respect, then liking... yoga. I couldn't stand it at first, but am so grateful I kept it up.

Doing squats and deadlifts are also wonderful (if done properly).

I have the same problem- fat is coming off everywhere EXCEPT where it bothers me most! My Dr says that for women, it is a normal part of the aging process to have fat settle in the midesection. I am not happy with that... and I hope that it comes off the tummy soon.

Default Same thing for me..It stinks! lol

Pilates is awesome and easy.

Denise Austin dvd's are also great for "Fat Burning."

Just got her new Dance Mix at Wal*Mart for $9.44!

*Latin Groove *Jazz & Pop *Club Funk *Ballet Sculpt

Also has a warm up and cool down.

Each one is a full body work-out.

I'm seeing results slowly but surely!

I also walk a lot.

Unfortunately you can't target fat loss. I was always told that abs are made in the kitchen (with your diet). You can do as many crunchs as you want but until you burn the fat off your stomach you won't see all your hard work. Continue with your weight loss, once your body losses more fat, your stomach muscles will begin to make an appearance.

I did a 6 week belly dancing class. Part of the warm up was squats, lunges and yoga/pilate type exercises. But the END of the class, was stretches and crunches. By the end of the 6 weeks, we were doing 360 crunches. 4 different types X 30 of each X 3 reps. Works for me. I probably lost 2 or 3 inches off my waist. I was doing them about 3 times a week at the gym as well. ..AND no, it won't make you lose FAT off your waist, but its called TONING.

There is a fantastic exercise that used to be done by bodybuilders of old called the ab vacuum. It's amazing. It's what I used to get back into my jeans in just a matter of a few weeks after my babies were born. Google it and you should be able to find it. It does not burn fat off the belly, of course, but it does work wonders.

Thanks guys for all wonderful responses. I got so many ideas. Best thing I am looking is adding some crunches to my work out for starters and then I will go from there.
