Default Help with green tea extract

I've started using a green tea extract, and the best I could find currently is Nature's Way. It's EGCG marker is 55%, and the green tea is standardized to 90% polyphenols. Whew. Now my question- the label says one capsule is equivalent to one cup of green tea. What's the usual dose used? This has 170mg/capsule. Any input would be helpful. Thanks, all.

The following recommendation comes from supplementwatch.com which has unbiased information on supplements.

Green Tea: Typical dosage recommendations are for 125-500mg/day – preferably of an extract standardized to at least 60% polyphenols and/or EGCG as a marker compound (this should be equivalent to 4-10 cups of brewed green tea).

HTH,

Karen

I started adding green tea extract as well. I know a capsule is 150 mg but have no idea about anything else. I've been taking 4 per day.

I just bought one at the GNC that says on the bottle that each 1 capsule serving is 315 mg of green tea extract but that it is 14%/44 mg polyphenal. Does this mean this is not a standardized extract? I'm taking 2 a day.

This is why I hate GNC - can't trust them when they say their products are all standardized...

If it has the active ing on the label it is standerized. And GNC meets all the usp standards i would not be afraid of GNC products. I know we have some of the best supp around. Other brands that are good are solgar,Natures Way and NOW .
