Yep, same thing. We call 'em linseeds here too.

If you can find linseed in an ordinary health food shop you should be able to get it much cheaper than H&B's prices

You will also see some pre-ground linseed in some shops - this is much more expensive than the seeds and likely to go off fairly quickly unless you keep it in the fridge.

Better to grind it yourself as you need it as the seeds keep fresh for much longer.

If you're going to be using flax (linseeds) you might be interested in trying out these flax wraps:

Flax wrap

2 ½ tbsp ground flax
¼ tsp baking powder
Onion powder to taste
Garlic powder to taste
1 large egg
1 tbsp water

Mix the flax, baking powder, with the onion and garlic powder in a bowl. Beat in the egg and the water, until the mixture has the consistency of batter. Pour into 8" microwavable flat plate that has been very lightly oiled with some oil, and spread till it covers entire bottom. Cook uncovered for 3 minutes in the microwave on high.

Use it like you would with a tortilla wrap. I often make up a batch of them to use as a wrap for Chicken Fajitas, for example.

You can substitute the onion and garlic powder with different ground up herbs, for example, or even cinnamon and Splenda for a 'sweet' version.

Many thanks to all of you for your very helpful advice.

Demi your recipe looks great can i just cut up a bit of Garlic and Onion and add instead of using powder.

Also the Linseed I got from H&B is literally seed

So i have to grind this up can you suggest a good grinder to use and is there any particular baking powder i need to use or ok to use any.... except self raising?

Also does the egg need to be separated like the Oopsie roll recipe?

And you say 8 inch microwaveable flat plate, so I could use a dinner plate lightly oiled?

Sorry for all the questions.

I don't see why not. There's also no reason not to leave it out entirely if you want. It really depends on what 'flavours' appeal to you.

One variation I do is to sprinkle in some Schwartz Italian Seasoning, for example, instead. I particularly like those flavours when I have a tuna salad wrap. Check out the other seasonings they have too, and let your imagination and taste buds run wild!

I've got a separate grinder attachment with my blender that I use, or if you've got something like a coffee grinder, that would do the trick.

Just use any baking powder.

Yes, that would be fine too.

An electric spice grinder is a good investment for linseed/flaxseed users.
This type of thing.
Wahl James Martin ZX595 Coffee Grinder (by the way everything I have had from avides has been brand new just the box has been opened for display purposes.)

I buy whole linseed in a bulk bag from SUMA wholefood suppliers. In the bulk bag (if it's kept in a mouse proof container) the whole seed will last a couple of years in a cool place. I grind a potful once weekly to keep in the fridge and add to soups, casseroles etc.

I do the same and order a 5kg bag from my local independant health food shop every year or so. Works out much much cheaper than buying small packs.

Myself and my family had these today, Thanks Demi they were real nice, we had salmon with mayo, watercress and little cheese, yummy

Have you got an idiots proof guide to making rolls/bread as some have suggested on here, those cleopatra rolls look good but dont think i will cope with that egg folding lark and seperating.

Any advice anyone?

KR
