Smile Former Lurker says "hello"

Hello all. I decided to graduate from lurker to forum member after four months of low-carbing. I absolutely love this wol. I have never felt better. I have not been perfect, in fact have had quite a few slip-ups(mostly on purpose), but this is the way it will be for the rest of my life. That I am sure of. I look forward to meeting and talking with you all.

welcome from one new member to another........you've been doing this for awhile so I have a question for you do you find that adding small things to your meals has ever stalled you? I mean I'll have a weight loss and then maybe add like some no fat dressing to my salad or the other day I just added a very small amount of ketchup to my sausage and the weight loss stopped for an entire day and I'm in induction and only lost 2 pounds in 6 days. It's really hard to adjust to it.....ok well nice to have you here..

Welcome! I don't find adding things really does stall me, but since you are in induction that may be the problem. I stayed at induction level for about 3 weeks, then once I stalled I started upping the carbs a little. I never had a steady weight loss though. I would be the same for 3 or 4 days then I would get a whoosh of 2-3 pounds. Just keep at it.
Good luck!

That's me so I must be doing it right, right? I have the loss then nothing then loss again. I keep blaming the little bit of ketchup or low fat dressing but I think I'm just being paranoid anyway I am still losing so I have to be on the right track as long as I continue to lose. Yesterday I had a small bag of sunflower kernals and was worried sick that that would set me back but I passed and actually had another 2 pound loss this am even though I am supposed to stay away from the nuts and seeds til after induction. I think it must be the old eat and feel guilty complex I have and even when I'm pigging out on my 0 carb food I still feel guilty like should I have ate that much meat. Anyway that's all part of my determination and I know I will be getting over this eventually lol. BTW you are doing fantastic!!

If you have read Atkins than you probably already know that No/low fat dressing is OUT. Stick to full-fat dressings (like Caeser, ranch, blue cheese and italian) and stay away from nuts...unless they are macadamias or almonds. Those I keep on hand at all time - in moderation of course.

Just so you know, the reason to stay away from low or no-fat dressings is because they usually have sugar in them. Seems that when they take the fat out or reduce it, they have to put sugar in to make it taste better. You'll find that the full fat dressings taste WAY better. Just check the label and pick one that is on the low side, no more than 1 carb per Tbsp. There are lots around .7 or .8 carb per Tbsp.

Default low fat dressing

You are sooooo right I could taste that sugar in that low fat dressing right away. I actually prefer a vinagerette type of dressing so when I go shopping this week I will check those out. I also need to invest in a new scale my other cheapos are doing strange things like changing everytime I get on it. The most important is I feel the loss but I won't know the actual "how much" til I get a new scale. Someday I might even have the nerve to get on "the scale" at my grocery store they have a humoungous scale in the front of the store, the problem is whoever gets on "the scale" everyone looks and I am not ready for that yet. I live in a small town and I don't actually want the whole town to know how much I weigh......yet! Thanks for the support..
