Default heavy bleeding

I don't usually menstruate much at all cos I have a Mirena (slow progesterone release IUD), so that I can wear estrogen patches for BAAAAD PMS. (I'm 47). I've been doing Atkins for 3 weeks and very happy with good weight loss, but this week I'm having such a heavy period - first time for a coupla years! I'm not worried, just curious. Any theories?

I really doubt their is a connection, at 47 be prepared for some natural changes, I know I'm 48.

Cheers Kathy

Hi rms,

Menstrual irregularities are very common when we start low carbing. There have been many, many threads about this. Have a read of this one for some reassurance.

Thanks, Rosebud: you always have the answers to my Qs! Here's another, which I posted the morning but have had no response - in the tech questions forum - can I change my username?
