I'm a girl scout leader and we are now drowning in Girl Scout cookies which I have NOT eaten. I did figure out that 1 Thin Mint would be about 4 carbs. But I'm thinking that even if I work that into my under 20 grams of carbos a day, I will still be shooting myself in the foot. Can someone explain this better? I know it is something with the insulin reaction.

For Easter I went off for a day and had several small chocolates. The nest day I was up 10 pounds which is physically impossible if you go by the calories in calories out model. It has taken me two weeks to work off those 10 pounds from that one day. I certainly don't want to go there again.

I have read and re-read the Atkins book and I just don't quite get how this all inter-relates. I'm looking for some scientific explanation. Any ideas?

Patti,

I don't have a scientifice explanation, but could you really eat just 1 cookie? Not me! I've been LC'ing for 5 weeks, no cheating except for going wild with a spoon & jar of peanut butter. I won't indulge my sweet tooth because I'm afraid that once I started there would be no stopping until I ate the whole thing (box, whatever). I find it easier to stick to the Atkins induction & no sweets, even LC ones, than eat a little of something that I crave & then stop.

Personally my largest milestone yet has been to make a pan of brownies for my church group. The aroma filled my apartment & drove me crazy. 1st time in my life I didn't lick the bowl or spoon after baking. Whooo hooo! Still can't believe I did it.

Enough rambling... CUL8R Ruth

Way to go Ruth,
To actually bake and then not to lick the spoon and bowl..LOL

With me Patti, I have had chocolate here and there while on this woe (I have found some sugar free chocolates now...Russel Stowe) anyway, they had no effect on me, other then maybe stall? I don't know even about that though as I seem to lose every two weeks or so.

It surprises me that you gained 10 lbs only with a few chocolates, then and again you say a few, wonder what a few is to you? LOL

Take a look around at Drug stores and Wal-marts to find sugar free chocolates, at least with these you may have a chance. Me I have to have some chocolate, this is my weakness!!!

Wendy
