Can you tell us more about this? Is it a brand you buy or did you just add the oil on your own?

i hadn't had any in awhile, but just started putting a teaspoon of coconut oil; in my coffee again two days ago. my mom left the kitchen with the parting shot of " i'm not going to stand here and watch you kill yourself" so then we had to hash it all out yet again.

potatofree - i was the same and i thought ick when i saw the oily film on the surface but seriously i was surprised and it was a lovely change from my normal water for me, i'm home late after weight workout tonite so i'm going to have another one (i drink decaf) i've read so many good things about it and normally i only cook eggs in it, i dont care much to take it right off the spoon.

If you use a non-paper filter you get oils from the coffee bean. They're natural oils and you can see it at the top. It is a more natural taste to the coffee as the oils absorbed by paper filters are part of the "essense" of the coffee. I guess this is the oil thing, but magnified. I'll try it, why not!

I like Tropical Traditions coc. oil - it's organic. Coconut oil is really good for you. I use coconut milk in tea or coffee too. Thai brand doesn't have preservatives.

Yeah its addicting, I get about 2 - 3 tablespoons / day and that's a lot of extra calories-- but like someone said studies show much of it comes out the other end. I know I have been less constipated lately

Y'know, I might just try this. Like others, the idea of adding an oily blob to my coffee is more than a little off-putting. But what is cream? An oily blob of not-yet-butter. I suppose I could melt a little coconut oil in the cup first, and pour in my usual coffee and half-n-half. I might not notice anything but the aaaah of a cozy feeling in my mouth. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Barbara - good grief i'm trying to remember while typing what you call cream lol, i lived in SC a few years ago, i think its heavy cream? you get it in a carton in the dairy cabinet, over here we have clotted cream (cream but like butter consistency lovely with scones), extra thick double cream, double cream and single cream, i think your heavy cream is equivalent to our double cream... I rarely drink coffee (well until today) but i always have double cream in it cos it makes it really creamy and yummy and i cannot believe how i've managed to get over that oily film with the coconut oil, it just tastes so right, i don't sweeten my coffee so its nice to have that little bit of flavour without the sugar

Do you find it offers a good bit of sweetness as well as offering good fat? I finally went and did a little LC spending on netrition and got some coconut oil. I'm looking forward to trying it (specifically in my coffee).

Coffee and coconut oil, I drink it all the time. My goal is to have coconut oil 3 times a day. Funny, my weight is going down. I lost 3 lbs over Thanksgiving weekend. I think that coconut oil is the best discovery since fire.
