WoW! Super old thread ya' got here!

Not everyone gets the hallmark "stinky breath and urine" that can come from being in ketosis.
When getting into, then being in ketosis, one's body produces three types of ketones:
acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate and acetone..,
KetoStix (testing for acetoacetate) will only be most valid during the earliest stages of attempting to get into ketosis... they then tend to drop to about 20% of their previous values. The thing is, this product is "waste," meaning that it will only measure ketones that your body isn't using - and then spilling into the urine. If you're using all the ketones you produce, you may not get any sort of meaningful readings with the KetoStix.
This is why some people use ketone blood (beta-hydroxybutyrate) meters and/or ketone breath (acetone) meters once they're firmly in ketosis.

Also, as it regards the inability to sleep:
Your serotonin levels might be off secondary to the ketosis...
You might want to check you aren't eating anything too fatty right before bedtime (or as it was in my case, eating coconut oil too late at night), and look into taking a melatonin supplement to help with the serotonin issue.

HTH, and welcome to the forum!

Just a funny story:

When I first started low carbing, I would use the bathroom at work, and I'd get this strong ammonia smell.

I would panic. I looked up muscle and kidney diseases, re-read DANDR, worried I was gonna kill myself. And then I realized I didn't smell the ammonia when I was home.

Turned out, these bathrooms were mopped down with ammonia fairly often, and when I was walking around I wouldn't smell it. But when I sat down... I did.

It wasn't me!
