Default yep, feelin' good!! :)

Wendy-
Thanks I do feel great!! I just got pics back from Hawaii so I'll have to post some.

Gopher-
Thanks! CKD---yep, cyclical ketogenic diet. I was on it for 6 weeks and this is basically how it went....
Mon-Fri: limited to 20 g of carbs a day, did AM cardio on an empty stomach, w/ a fat burner---every morning. (towards the end of the diet I was doing cardio AM and PM!!) Also, weightraining on M, W, and Fri. After the Friday night workout, I could "carb up" until Monday morning again. I basically on the weekends would eat low-fat and not worry about carbs. (although I must admit I did eat some sweets on the weekend, which weren't so low fat!)

My boyfriend is a personal trainer and he does the CKD to get ready for summer so I decided to do it with him. Wa'il is right, you lose fat and gain muscle on this diet. Here is a link to check out for basic info on a ketogenic diet:

http://www.hbstores.com/Ketogenicdieting.htm

Also, if you check out TrainerDan's profile it has his email address and he knows all about this diet!!

You can email me too with any additional questions!!!

Why do we have an Exercise Forum, if not for this very thing ??

We can have both, if needed. For some reason I think there's a difference in how people approach exercise. Not sure if the difference is mild vs. intense, or aerobic vs. anaerobic (sp?), fat loss vs. toning/building etc. By browsing fitness/exercise sites, you can see these 2 distinct groups.

The good thing is, we can create forums and sub-forums on the fly, and if they get busy and lively, that's great, if they stagger and dwindle, they can get merged into another parent-forum so as not to lose any posts. So if anyone has an idea for a forum, feel free to recommend it (and moderate it) and we'll see how it goes.

For example, we created the Triple digits club based on a suggestion and there seem to be little activity in it, just one topic. We'll give it some time, and might just merge it back into another forum if not many are interested in it. We can also re-open it if members ask for it again. It's quite flexible.

Default This ckd sound interesting

This ckd sound interesting!

I think it would be something I would like to try. I have heard you don’t lose as much and that you should do one or the other…but looking at Ferns pic and the fact that she didn’t have that much to lose {compared to my 30 down 115 to go} I wonder now! I really want to know more! I’m going to check out the web site.

Wa’il,
Here’s what I would be interested in is locally groups. I’m in Houston/Waller area. And I would like to find away to communicate more with people in this area. Also I want to set up a support group of some kind and would like to have a direct link put on flyers. I LOVE THIS PLACE! And wouldn’t want to send people anywhere but here. I know I could have a web page...but I could offer as much as here. I know we have a US…but could we do a Houston area etc.? Someplace where you can see all the people from your area?

BY THE WAY…We are having a Low Carb Dinner Saturday night if anyone is in town and wants to come! I posted it on the calendar…and the US area. WOULD LOVE ALLOT! OF PEOPLE THERE!
Just had to put that in! ha!
SMILE,
Lorraine

Lorraine--
I am glad you are interested in the ckd. The basic principle lies in low-carbing but you get to add the "carb up" on weekends.... but you also have to exercise a lot!!! Let me know any questions you have and I would be more than happy to help you. Also, I told TrainerDan to respond to your quest for more info and he said he would. He just got off the 6 week cycle too and he got good results also!!!

Hi Fern,
I'm pretty excited about that…I think it falls right where my husband and I want to be in the diet/workout routine. I also checked out the site to put up! REALLY COOL! I e-mailed them with some question but I would like to here what TrainerDave has to say also…Thanks for telling him I’m interested! My treadmill died…so I’m going to go get a new on this weekend! What is the level you supposed to keep you heart rate at? I was told if you get to hi or to low your not doing much good. When I was doing the 30 min circuit train there was a chart we went by…But I don’t remember what it was?
