BTW, from everything I have read over at coconut-info.com, you don't have to only ingest the oil; check out this link to information on lauric acid from various sources

I have used the dessicated, unsweetened coconut and the oil. I tried the milk tonight and I will check out iHerb for the butter.

The addition of the coconut products has seemed to make a change. I am waiting another week to post my results.

Thanks for the great discussion.

Thanks for the pineapple mix tip Friday, and same to you slim gym for the new recipe - I'll be picking up both tonight . BTW, I received the coconut butter yesterday, and it has a nice medium consistency (not like lard) - not like the coco butter you use for your skin. When it melts, it's clear.

Chat with you all later!

Default Sounds yummy!

Great recipes. I am looking forward to trying them out. I love pina colada's. I got hooked on the about 20 years ago down in Key West Florida. The closest that I have been able to get in duplicating them is to use

1 can frozen bacardi pina colada mix
fill the empty pina colada mix can halfway with rum.
mix well in blender.
add 1 to 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream or 1/2 cup heavy cream.
mix well again.
add ice to blender until the mixture is thick and smooth.
pour into glass and top with whipped cream.
enjoy

The pina colada's acctually pointed me in the right direction to the coconut oil. When I started the CKD I made a pitcher for DW and myself on the first friday night carbup and I noticed that my temp was higher the next morning. At first I figured it was because of the alcohol. I remebered reading a post somewhere here about someone losing weight like crazy taking coconut oil so I started researching. A few more carbups and a few more pitchers later followed by higher morning temps and I knew something was up.

I tried 1 tbsp lastnight 30 min. before my LBWO and I had plenty of energy and didn't feel like I was straining to complete my last few sets.

Thumbs down ...

Coconut oil definitely does not deserve this much attention. The end.

-Well, if you know me... you'd know that I'd have a reason for saying that. My reason being- it's no more useful than using 'MCTs' (by itself)... which have been known to negate fat-burning on a ketogenic diet (whether it be a 'CKD' ... or whatever). Let's refer back to the ole' 'BODYOPUS' book and see what Dan Duchaine said about coconut oil:

"Coconut oil is a distant second to purified MCTs. Remember, other than the MCTs, the rest of coconut oil is as saturated as egg yolk fat. There are more interesting food choices that contain saturated fats".

It may be a 'distant second', but it's hella cheaper and tastes good, too.

Hehehe

Right on Friday! Yeah, coconut is fun too! Besides - even if coco oil/milk has as much saturated fat as egg yolks - it's just as or even more versatile IMHO.

-How'd you guess? Actually, I've had to lay off the 'Haterade'... 30 grams of evil/hatred filled carbs per serving. Damn... I wish I had some 'Haterade' right about now.

That's true. If you can't eat it or drink it you can always find something to rub it on!
