I'm ultra low carb.

I read that if you are not in ketosis sugar in your body suppresses the Gamma T cells in the mucus membranes of your nasal, throat and lung tissues. Conversly, if you are in ketosis they immune response is strengthened and the Gamma T cells active.

I read this in a few sources, but one never knows. I didn't see it in a peer-reviewed scientific journal so it could be OK or not. Since I'm keto anyway, it's worth a try.

I'm from 2-15 carbs per day plus moderate protein and twice as much fat.

I catch a mild cold every 15 or so years (also a corona virus). One day of runny nose, one day of cough and it's over. The last time I got the flu was over 25 years ago, before I went keto.

So for me, it seems to work.

Bob

I've gotten... something... since returning home from overseas. It feels just like a head cold at the moment, but against the backdrop of current wider circumstances, I've enquired by phone and I'm not considered a likely enough case to be worth testing for, even though I spent a large part of March travelling overseas.

So I'm just riding it out at home by myself, which is what I was doing with the whole self-isolation thing anyway. Not overly worried.

I would encourage you to be tested Grav given your travel history - You would be eligible. Even though you feel ok now it can change very quickly

I just watched the video of today's US press conference with Dr. Deborah Brix. She said, of those in the US with fever and symptoms, 86% of those tested are negative.

Interesting since my sister feels so sure that her son has it, having a high fever, dry cough, some breathing issues, but he can’t even get a test. Just given cough medicine and a nebulizer and told to go home.

The regular flues A and B are also circulating still.
My dd3 was training a lady at work, working closely together for a couple of days when on day 2 the lady looked flushed and got a headache. She went straight to the quickie doctors that had a clinic at one of the big grocery stores. She did have fever and tested positive for type-A.

I will be REALLY anxious to get the serology test when it becomes available, and to hear about data collected. There are a lot of anecdotes of people having symptoms over the last few weeks and months, but not even bothering trying to get tested, because it was widely known that testing was unavailable.

There's a chance I had it back in early Feb.... but the big confounding factor is I had just found black mold on my bedroom windows, went nuclear on it with harsh spray cleaners, and then got the bronchitis. I got what felt like a fever a week later, though the thermometer was registering just under 100F.

I grew up with asthma (in remission since going gluten-free 10 yrs ago) and frequent bronchitis, but I tell you, it's never felt like this. I had crushing pain when I inhaled more than tidal breath, and salbutamol (rescue inhaler) barely touched it. I could barely breathe; it was brutal.

This past December into January, I had a really bad head cold .. raw throat, plugged sinuses, popping ears .. and coughing fits so bad I couldn't draw a breath in, like suffocating. Had chest pain, likely due to torn intercostal (rib) muscles from so much strong coughing. Had to sleep in the recliner chair for more than a few nights because lying down in bed triggered the cough . Oh thrill oh joy, in the 2nd week my sinuses became infected which then spread to a recently placed dental implant, probably Strep.A .. needed 2 different antibiotics to clear it up. I also completely lost my sense of taste and smell, and that lasted for a long time even after the cold and infection were gone. I mention this because apparently a suffocating cough and loss of smell are symptoms of covid-19 that some are experiencing. At no time did I have a fever though, which is a hallmark symptom.

To keep this relevant to low-carb ... my loss of taste and smell was a real appetite killer. I'd eat maybe half a normal meal and realize that I was full, whereas if I'd been able to taste how yummy it was I'd probably have eaten the whole thing and possibly gone back for seconds! Despite eating less food and mostly drinking hot broth and green tea I managed to gain 5 lbs .. probably due to antibiotics. Took a month to get it off again.

.

Likewise, late January, I had a dry cough that was cutting my sleep in half. But that's early. Had to be a bad flu.

This thing seems to be very unpredictable. I saw a video of a super healthy looking man who almost died from it. No factors like smoking or disease. Then a friend almost my age got a very mild case.

At any rate, I doubled my Vit. D dose, am taking lots of probiotics, mild exercise, gardening daily and my decontamination regimen is extreme! Oh yes, no booze.

There are very likely to be false negative tests. https://www.washingtonpost.com/scie...arent-infected/

I really hope they do extensive antibody tests after this so they can get some idea how this works.

Finally a few mentions in the US mainstream media on Immunity.

Of course, the article mentions Gigi berries and Oysters, but not red meat protein, or really much protein at all except fatty fish, yogurt and PB.

Happy to hear that dogs cannot get the virus per WHO.
Still waiting for DH 's test results. Quick test was neg for seasonal flu. Waiting for covid test....lost count of time waiting....ten days or so. Concerned
the numbers reported are not correct if testing is ten days behind.

He was cleared by doctor to go back to work : stocking shelves with food at WM.

No one else has caught the bug from him. We take 10,000 units D3 and stocked up on refills and more K2. Eating the oranges sent from FL by Grandpa and adding vit C .

I feel like this is a bad dream and cant wake up. Focusing on eating real food, cooked at home. A little canned but mostly frozen meats , turkey , veg and herbs and dried spices ......
