Default World Health Organization pulls support for planetary health diet that restricts meat

World Health Organization pulls support for 'planetary health diet' that drastically cuts back on meat after critics warn it is 'dangerous to health'

- The UN body was originally planned to sponsor the launch event of a group

- The EAT-Lancet Commission is behind the 'nanny-state' planetary health diet

- Scientists say its adoption is vital to feed the world's booming population

- But the WHO stopped sponsoring the event following criticism of the diet

Ummmm..... the dangers of red meat has NOT been proven..... yes, nitrates and smoked meats are a problem.

A quick google, not official by any means.

Americans average 18 pounds of bacon a year.
Americans average 55 pounds of beef a year.

How can these be lumped together as "red meat" ???? AND the cooking methods are not addressed in "red meat".

For my family, we have reduced the bacon consumption; and I dont encourage using the BBQ.

We don't eat much bacon partly because it's processed & partly because of price. We don't BBQ for even more practical reasons - we live in the middle of the woods & if you cook anything outside, especially meat, you get swarmed by yellow jackets.

Two summers ago the yellow jackets were so bad we couldn't butcher outside. I even tried very early in the morning & it was still impossible. We quickly set up a butchering station in the cabin we moved out of earlier that year - wonderful! Right next to the running water. The only thing we had to do outside was the actual killing. I'd run inside with the dead bunny & husband hosed down the area to keep the yellow jackets at bay.

They probably could have used a more presentable version of a plant-based hamburger. It wouldn't have tasted any better, but still.

That is nasty looking. I used to eat veggie burgers at Dairy Queen - I loved them! And they looked good, too.

Kind of funny that the one in the picture is made with coconut oil. I thought coconut oil was forbidden by the The Anointed.

People keep saying that not eating meat will save the planet, but I really think the vegetarians are sponsoring an agenda.

After all, there are zillions of acres of pastureland that would be very water, fertilizer and labor intensive to farm. It would be disastrous to turn that into lettuce or tomato farms.

And they keep telling us that eating meat isn't good for us. They say the fat is bad. But the Inuits, and French eat lots and lots and lots of fat and are healthier than the rest of us. They call it the Inuit and French exceptions, I call that evidence that eating fat is good for you.

So I take all of that with a suspicious attitude of a veggie agenda conspiracy. But I have no proof of that, just a feeling about it.

In the end we have to pick what we believe in, and if it works for us, keep at it.

And if there was one diet that was best for everybody, there be a need for only one diet book

Bob

Again with zillions of acres of grasslands that would be impossible to farm without an unreasonable amount of water, excessive fertilizer and herbicides when ruminants can just graze on it as it is, it's not going to help the earth to eat a vegan diet.

Corporate farming must be paying off the people who promote such an absurd plan.

Grow plants in river flood zones - get rid of the houses and flooding controls and farm that land. It's the best and easiest. Grow ruminant animals in pastureland. And forget sending them to feed lots to eat corn, it makes the meat less nutritious for humans.

Is it too much to ask for the world to adopt some common sense?

Bob

Bob, im with you! My acreage is rocky and no place for a tiller nor plow. But the sheep, ducks and chickens do rather well. Just a couple areas now available for vegies....took years to develop those spaces. We grow mostly rocks. Lol

Those yellow jackets are something.....the buggers. We have a similar problem and must look carefully before picking up the meat . Gready buggers.
