WOW huge congrats on 4 years of maintenance!

You made some really important points and I'm so glad you shared them! Some people think that maintenance is a breeze, no cravings, etc...

I always say that it's still a FIGHT, but I'd rather Fight the Good Fight to stay in maintenance then to FIGHT "Fat Jo" all over again to lose the weight!

Again, congratulations on 4 years and continued success on your journey!

Can't wait to see you post your successful 5th YEAR Anniversary thread!

Thank you Renee! Congratulations on your accomplishments! My advice as you settle in to a life of maintenance is to explore it slowly, maintaining the same focus and determination that got you to this point. Maintenance is still a journey, an extension of the journey you've been on.

I look forward to reading your success story!
Best wishes!

I find the losing weight part is the easiest mostly due to the reward of seeing things go down (weight, clothes size, blood sugar and pressure, triglicerides) and the encouragment from those around you as you get smaller. But the maintenance is the hardest part. Suddenly people who did not know you when you were heavier tell you "oh your so thin a cookie won;t hurt". That was when I had lost 67 pounds on LC and now have put it back on. So messages like yours are so appreciated! Thank you and continued success!!!

Many thanks for your kind words!

I agree, while we're losing weight there are so many quick wins and measureable milestones. We have to think about how important it is to constantly work at keeping ourselves motivated. For me, I have to keep it fresh and new with different recipes, new spices. I continue to read and explore new things about my health and lifestyle. I have switched gears from a "work"-life balance to a LIFE-work attitude. There is no such thing as immunity; I know I must maintain a certain level of vigilance for a lifetime. It all boils down to decisions, choices and the right balance for me!

My strategy for not only maintaining my weight but dealing with a busy life of family, friends, work and trying to fit in time for me has been centered around the three A's - Accept, Avoid or Alter. A simple rule for dealing with the day-to-day stress and the demands of life. And even with all of this, it can and will be challenging at times but it's what we do during these struggles that shape us for success!

Do your thing. Be happy with who you are. That's what is important.

Cheers to YOU!!

~ Chris

Thanks so much Liz!
