NOT Alas! That's YAY--you looked your cravings in the eye and said, NO.

The thing about giving in to them is that we feel guilty later. Temporary comfort, long term pain. Bah on that, right?

Yes, no guilt necessary here, I just felt SO crappy that I could hardly sit upright and just wanted to scream but after dinner (which included cauliflower) I am feeling much better....I've had quite a few meals these past 2 days of the spinach lasagna with nothing else (besides fat) and I think the lasagna's rather low carb (could be wrong though).

I also ate too much fat yesterday and woke up (probably way TMI) with yellow diarrhea.

I do not really know how to track my food and where the best place is to do it, and I really don't feel like doing it but I know I should....and I will get there.

It's funny, the first 4 days were rather easy, no real strong cravings.

Theoretically a crockpot should be about 2/3 full, but I gave my 4 qt to my DD so only have a 5 qt now and small roasts with not much sauce seem to do just fine. And sounds like your did OK as well! if I'm feeling fancy, I might add an onion to the jar of sauce but don't want to complicate it too much
Maybe try Crackslaw next? At its basic, ground meat+a bag of slaw.

Although I use MFP now, for the first eight months all I did was jot down the foods and carbs for the meal with paper, pencil and looking up the carbs in the Atkins carb counter. Even simpler if you follow a plan with amount limits on veggies and the extras, no carb counting needed as it is built into the plan.
Try having the salted broth mid morning and mid afternoon, takes the edge off cravings, replaces the habit of a snack, replaces minerals you are losing with the water weight.
Speaking of Habits...read the thread about Gretchen Rubin and new post on her diet.

MFP = my fitness pal, an online or app calorie/component tracker that you can set to your own needs.

Janet, the roast was amazing, I was so excited when I came home from the store I put it in at 5:30 and had to stay up until 12:30am but it is great!!!

I can't say it was a craving yesterday but it was just an overall hideous feeling that I know would have been better with something sweet . It was like everything was out of balance and I was exhausted. It was not like I really wanted something but maybe that is a craving!

I am going to look for that thread you mentioned now.

Yup. That's a craving, all right. You are still getting used to your new WOE, and lots of people have a couple days where they feel rotten--it's called keto flu--as their bodies adjust to using fat, instead of sugar, for energy.

Drinking enough water, and getting enough salt, helps.

Glad to hear you liked my "complicated recipe" but you ate enchiladas after midnight? At least you have good digestion! You probably have a high and low setting on the crockpot, high would have worked too in half the time. Tough stew meats are tenderest on low, but a pork roast in salsa would have still shredded apart and been tender cooked on high. Chicken cooks quicker in crockpots...and yes, chicken in salsa works too
...which reminds me, find a jar of lowish carb spaghetti sauce (I use trader Joe's Rustico) or plain canned diced tomatoes...and make crockpot versions of Italian stews or any tomato based dishes. Serve over a vegetable.

Hang in there, good advice from Micky Sue. Keep a box of broth or the cubes on hand all the time and have a cup when feeling off. Or some tea.

Default Pepperoncini Pot Roast

Hiya... since you all are talking Crockpot and roasts, here's one of my all time favorites and its so easy.

Warning, it's not ultra low carb but for those that can tolerate higher carbs, 1 oz of Pepperoncini peppers = 2 carbs (32 carbs for the entire crock full).

Pepperoncini Pot Roast [Crock Pot Recipe]

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients
•3-5 lb. beef roast (I've used chuck roast, but any inexpensive cut will work)
•16 oz jar Pepperoncini peppers, with liquid
• 1 t. garlic powder
• 1 t. sea salt
• 1 t. pepper

Place chuck roast in slow cooker, sprinkle on garlic powder, salt & pepper, pour in jar of pepperoncini. Set to low and cook for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours!

No it was for the next day - I did have it for breakfast though and am having it again right now! Yum!

I wish Trader Joe's was closer, its almost 2 hours away!

If you have Aldi's nearby, check there. The two stores are owned by two brothers in Germany, and have a lot of the same stuff, just with different labels.

No Aldi's either unfortunately, it's 1.5 - 2 hours away in Phoenix.

We have Natural Grocers, Whole Foods, Safeway, Basha's, Fry's and Walmart. It's small town.

Is it ok to have 6-7 slices of bacon with some spinach and 1/3 - 1/2 zucchini for a meal?

Oh, heck, yeah. Sounds delicious, in fact. I had four slices of mozzarella/proscuitto log and some high fat yogurt with heavy cream for dinner.

You ask yourself: is it on plan? Does it have enough fat and little enough carbs? Then go for it.

Thanks! Is the mozzarella/prosciutto log, a cold cut?

Yesterday I was so conscious about the carbs I might be unknowingly eating, after reading part of JustJo's journal (inspiring by the way) and trying to stay under 20, not at 20, and was sure I'd wake up to a lb. down but I was up two - so sad!

I am not changing it until tomorrow if I am still up 2 :-(.

WAH!!!!
