Default Keep sneaking Chips Ahoy cookies at night

I can be so disciplined all day with low carb eating, but once night time hits I seem to be caving to my craving every night and can't seem to stop.

I have 3 small children so my husband buys them chocolate chip cookies and doesn't feel like the children should not have cookies, so he continues to buy them and quite honestly I don't feel like fighting with him about it any more. They are not the ones overeating the cookies, it's me and doesn't haven't a problem with them so he feels like I should be able to control myself.

After they are all asleep I love to make myself a cup of black decaf and unwind with the internet. But I tell myself one cookie would be fine. But I always ending up having 4 which is 28 carbs (7 carbs a cookie).

I know I should go out and get the 90% cacao Lindt chocolate and have that to satisfy my chocolate craving at night, but the cookie really hits the spot. I wish I could have a few cookies at night, still lose weight, and not feel so guilty.

You could always look in the recipe section and find something like almond cookies,maybe add dark choc over them?if you really need them,but the trouble is really you are only feeding the habit..i used to eat late at night as it is my down time,,so i had to say no more after 7, if i need to i will have sfjelly....good luck..

Instead I'll give you a few links for homemade LC cookies you may want to try depending on what phase you are on or how badly you really want chocolate chip cookies.

why? when lc chocolate chips cookies are so darn easy to make.

for really great lc chocolate chip cookies with no sugar alcohols and only 1 net carb use Nevada Manna Mini Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.



The recipe is right on the back of the bag:

Dana Carpender's No Sugar Added Chocolate Chip Cookies:

2 cups sugar-free semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup almond meal
1 cup vanilla whey protein powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter - softened (2 sticks)
1/2 cup Splenda
3/4 cups Steel's Nature Sweet Brown Sugar Substitute
2 eggs
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

2007, You have done flung a craving on me.

I find that low carb treats don't have the same effect on me as regular ones do.

I can have ONE serving, be satisfied, and walk away. Because it's not stuff that messes up my metabolism. It's satisfying.

Also, I did not crave them all summer; but once the cool nights triggered the colored leaves, I do want them. And now it's oven weather.

want2Bskny, i know how such cookies can call you; but Chips Ahoy? Cripes, that's sawdust with addictive substances in it. EAT REAL FOOD and you won't have that problem.

Does your husband eat the cookies, too?

me too werebear i.e., i can have one or two lc treats and be totally satisfied.

right now i have a fridge full of nevada manna chocolate chips. i cleaned out the lc store (viva low carb) when i went to california to visit. i figured i'd better take advantage so i don't have to pay for any shipping, because they charge you extra to ship because they have to be kept cool during shipping. so i bought the 5 packages they had on the shelf since i know i will be doing a lot of baking for the holidays. i also stocked up on all my lc bread and bagels too because they too are expensive to ship.

Thanks all, I am working on this and have been staying away from the cookies!

WereBear - no, my husband does not eat the cookies. I'm not sure why I like them so much, I think I had them in the house when I was a kid too, so maybe there's some comfort in the fact that they remind me of childhood?? I'm sure there are better real food ones out there!

2007 -- I am the world's worst cook/baker and far too lazy to try and make lc cookies -- BUT I seem to be able to substitue 90% dark chocolate with all natural peanut butter and can stop at a few small squares maybe adding up to 10 carbs max. I've been doing this at night with my black coffee and it seems to be working.

BUT, the cookies still call me every day......

If it helps at all, the longer you continue to stay away from the cookies, the easier it will get. You can do it!

Those LC chocolate chip cookies sound ahhhhmazing!

What about an Advantage bar cut up into 4-5 pieces? That way you're only into 3nc and at least there's some portion control. Works for me.

Sounds like an addiction to me - My dad was an alcoholic and when he tried to give up the booze (a regualr occurrence) he'd often sneak downstairs after everyone was a sleep and have a "night cap"!!! Either you give up and lose those cravings or you dont lose weight is the harsh reality!!

That said, try some of the alternatives posted on here and see if you can find a compromise...... by the way, I didnt mean to come across as harsh

a few people can do this.


then there are the ones that these few cookies at night are going to be your downfall. because if you allow this at night, then you will justify eating a few at lunch. just a few. which means that you are drawn back into the addiction. then it snowballs even more.

find LC substitutes for junky foods. they might be your savior.

I think I am definitely an addict to these bloody cookies.

I cannot seem to stop. I know I need to, why is this so difficult for me.

Have you read Wheat Belly ? Wheat is addictive.
Have you read Fat Chance ? Sugar is addictive.

Both light up the same areas of the brain that cocaine, heroin and other drugs do.

Why is it so difficult to stop? Because they are addictive. Only you can stop and only when you are convinced that you are addicted and you no longer want to be controlled by them. Seriously, some research might give you the insight you need to do this. Good luck!

I agree completely with you Liz53 -- it is SUCH an addiction. I am now on day 7 of a very clean induction. I am not feeling the cravings that much if I am very strict with the addiction.

Have been very strict with no nibbling, no peanuts or peanut butter (we only have unsweetened and normally i eat that even when i try to do an induction) and I have been not really struggling too much.

My husband even baked these outrageous chocolate chip cookies for a super bowl party and i didn't even eat one. I think he was shocked at my will power but I told him that i can't stop at one and I want to lose weight and can't do it if I keep eating these cookies!!!!!
