Sunlight was absolutely the best thing for that area...fortunately we had a lovely hot summer and I had a private place to sunbathe! Best I've ever felt. I saw the skin disease specialist again yesterday for a follow up and she's really pleased with how it's cleared up (me too!) but I'll probably have to use a mild steroid ointment on the area for the forseeable future. That I can live with!

Just jumping in in case my experience helps anyone. I got a normal yeast infection that wouldn't go away with the oral pill or monistat for literally months. I went to the doctor and was saying but why isn't it going away? and my doctor was kind of snippy when he said "It's been over 100 degrees for months what do you expect!" Not the best bedside manner but his point was the heat and sweat makes things worse because yeast thrives on warm and moist.

I started thinking about it and remembered what a different doctor had mentioned about another part of the anatomy that had been itching (long story for another time) and I started putting a small piece of tissue down there just resting on the opening and changing it out when I went to the bathroom. It seemed to wick away the moisture and low and behold it cleared up pretty quickly. I really think it helped.

Also, during the 2 month time period while I was taking the oral meds I had tried the fake brand of monistat and it seemed to have zero effect. I had done some research on the internet and some people had indicated that monistat didn't work but the other brand did work, so I tried the 3 day of the other name brand and it clearly improved the symptoms. That treatment plus the tissue trick seemed to work.

So, if you're suffering I suggest trying different otc products and the tissue trick. I hope the OP's symptom's have resolved!

Me too.

In my twenties I got a yeast infection; medication cleared it up as advertised.

But in my early fifties I got it again; cleared up as promised; so far pretty normal, even good, considering how common these things are.

But a year or so later, I got one again; and this was the Godzilla of all infections. Turned out this was one of the clues I was drastically low on estrogen, post-menopause. I started HRT.

And haven't had one, since.

Sue I completely understand. I got a very bad fungal infection a few weeks ago "down there" and it was so uncomfortable. I also have been struggling with a fungal infection in my ears for well over a year, nothing seems to work. The itchiness drives me batty.

Hey Swizzle,

Have you tried putting coconut oil in your ears???

I know it sounds mad but it might just do the trick - that is, if you haven't already tried it...

Wild Oil of Oregano.

Take it internally. DO NOT put it directly on your lady bits.
