This is so exciting, so many people are joining! We'll have to do a roll call on July 1 to see who's all in...whether we've already started or not.

Okay, I think I am in. Dairy will be the hard one to do away with but I pretty much eat this way when low-carbing on the Syndrome-X diet.

One question, why is stevia eliminated if used in natural form (grown, dried, and brewed into simple syrup form)?

Shawn

Weisser4, I think it's to get away from consuming things that you wouldn't eat if it wasn't sweetened.

Okay. I use it only in my hot tea in the AM so I don't think I will cut it out.

I think I'm in too. I'm looking into making my own bacon, because I'll definitely need a substitute for butter and it sounds like bacon grease is the way to go.

Mandra,
Have you tried using coconut oil? I'm a big fan of bacon grease myself but have recently begun using EVCO. I find it makes a great substitute where I was using bacon grease before, and I think I like high temp frying with it even better than bacon grease, definitely better cooking with it than butter.

Today is Day 9 for me, I woke up with what looks like a whoosh (I didn't weigh myself, I can tell by looking) and my skin seems glowing. Hot dang!

Way to go, tigerh!

Day 15 for me; I'm proud to have made it halfway.

Manaloa, thanks for the squash/sweet potato suggestion for upping cals. Broadening my plant food horizon is what I'm really enjoying most about this challenge.

Welcome and good luck to all those starting Friday!!

I love seeing more people join this thread!

tigerh, we started on the same day, I can't believe I'm on day 9 already.

I am eating a few more carbs than what I'd normally be consuming, but I think that my calories have dropped a bit with cutting out dairy. I've added in a small or 1/2 a sweet potato a few times a week, and last night ate a few more cooked carrots than usual. Dinner was boiled chicken in a coconut milk curried soup... the carrots were just scary good tasting with the soup, I could make a carrot coconut milk curry all by itself!

Thanks guys. Sadly, I have a meal off tomorrow for my husband's birthday. But I'm planning on getting straight back to pure paleo after that again, just in time for July. It'll be nice to fit back into my old clothes properly.

I did buy some coconut oil, but at that price it's definitely not going to fill in for butter on a regular basis....

Starting tomorrow.

I have handed over my remaining butter and cream to my housemates and have started with this evening's meal - grilled garlic and ginger pork chop with pan fried courgettes, mushrooms and onions in herbes de Provence. I used coconut oil and olive oil.

I will be taking some berries in to work tomorrow to accompany my left over pork lunch. I'll also be taking my measurements first thing tomorrow morning and weighing for the last time until 1st August.

I will have several social gatherings to attend this month so it's going to be difficult turning down alcohol, but I'd like to see if I can stick to my guns!

How is everyone else feeling about it? I'm excited

I am also cutting out nightshades for this month. I just looked up nightshades to see if there were any I didn't know about, and it turns out that tobacco is a nightshade! Who knew? Well, smoking was another thing that I have decided to stop as I was getting into the habit after a bout of stress a couple of months ago. So I had my last cigarette last Saturday and haven't looked back.

I'll be taking 3 tsp omega 3 fish oil each day (according to Rob Wolf's fish oil calculator) and I will stop taking my effervescent multivitamin which contains things like maltodextrin, acesufame k and sucralose.

I'm excited too. I'm going to cut out eggs this time around to see if I have issues.
