Some great ideas you guys!!! So far during my journey, I've been so worried about what I should/shouldn't eat that I've been ignoring what tastes good. Your menus made me hungry!!!

Very tasty dinner tonight - not perfectly Paleo, but it *is* gluten/dairy-free and low carb:

Whole Foods Recipe gluten-free Turkey Meatballs
Kalyn's Kitchen Grilled Zucchini Recipe - yes, this is BBQ'd zucchini

Lucini Italia Sicilian Olive and Wild Caper Sauce - just warmed up a bit of this jarred sauce, and drizzled atop the meatballs and grilled zucchini.

I think most people go through that phase, they concentrate on what they can't eat and do see the forest for the single tree they're staring at!

One of my favorite sides is greens sauteed in bacon. So far, we've sauteed the following with bacon and the kids have gobbled up every last bite:

Swiss Chard
Mustard Greens
Turnip Greens
Kale
Baby beet greens
spinach
rainbow chard

We do a side of greens several times a week accompanied by meat or fish and probably other veggie and salad. We joined a CSA (community supported agriculture) group so we have a TON of veggies we have to get through every week, mostly greens.

^do you get radishes? We're up to our ears in greens & cool crops. They are SO delicious browned in bacon fat/lard... omg! They end up with a really tender starchy texture. I like to slice them and sear each side, but sometimes I just throw them in the microwave.

Anyway! I brought that up because our greens/bacon concoction lately has been full of sauteed radishes they add a really great texture. I'd liken it to bacon, new potatos and greens, but that wouldn't do the radish justice.

Also, they're pink. My daughter LOVES them (only cooked!)

SO!

Breakfast was "Granola" (as my 3 year old daughter calls it) - 1 oz pecan peices, 1 Tbsp sunflower seeds and 1 oz dried coconut (pretty funny, huh? It's not even toasted)

Snack: 1/2 avocado & 1/2 oz almonds

Lunch: Ground lamb patty (w/ mustard seed, tumeric & coriander.. mmm) over swiss chard, 2 crushed pecans & topped with a soft poached egg

Snack: Soft poached egg over a portabella (perfect microwave meal!)

Dinner: 200 grams Roast tri-tip and all it's juices + aforementioned bacon/chard/radish goodness

THANK YOU so much for the radish suggestion. We got a bunch of white radishes this week. (we get the weekly "family size" CSA box with tons of stuff) I don't love radishes, so we each had a couple, but to be honest, I think that they are one of the only things that we might not have eaten. I believe that almost anything sauteed with bacon is delicious, so I'm going to give this a try.

No kidding!!!! Sounds DELICIOUS! Note: I practically went through a palm tree forest when I was pregnant with all the young coconut I ate Moderation pretty much went out the window for that 9 months!!!

burbuja I totally feel you! When all our radishes started popping up I was like "Uh.. why did I plant so many radishes again??" Raw radishes definitely have a powerful taste to them. Sauteed they are divine!!!!

Going to have to try the sauteed radishes. I don't like them raw but I know they are very easy to grow. So, will try them sauteed in bacon. Thanks for the tip!

I still haven't tried the sauteed radishes, though I keep hearing about them.

Are you just using the regular red radishes?

Breakfast: two sausage patties
Lunch: had to do fast food so I had a triple burger with no bun, dipped in mustard
Dinner: flat iron steak with feta aioli (ok, so the dairy was non-paleo, but it's sooooo good!)

I've been trying to go almost all meat to kick start myself back into weight loss mode and to cure my digestive problems. I've been doing it since Sunday and so far my digestion is 100% better and I've been losing almost exactly one pound a day. I feel so much better overall. Grains and sugar just do me in, even in small amounts.

Tonight, Bacon Explosion!

Oh no! Not the bacon explosion!

I'm still stuck on chili and salads. But instead of the omelet I'm making smoothies in the morning.
