The marshmallow and syrup "cereal" reminds me of something my stepson does. Chocolate chips in a bowl, mixed with gobs of peanut butter and honey--then just eat with a spoon. Disgusting or what!!??

Nope! Oddly enough, she was a very picky eater and super-skinny when we were kids. She didn't gain weight until she had kids. I'm pretty sure she doesn't eat like that anymore. BTW, she also used to eat plain butter and uncooked spaghetti. Compared to the cereal, that's not so foul, but still... .

um... this was my "gross" food. LOL!!! I used to put choc chips in a bowl and mix with peanut butter, eat wth a spoon! yummy! (no honey though, but sometimes mini-marshmallows!)

I've also done frosting on a spoon, ate a pint of ice cream in one sitting, cookie dough...

One that my cousins used to do as kids is eat white bread smeared with ketchup. "Ketchup Sandwich". That I just couldn't do, even as a kid.

I have a few to add to the eating "Healthy" list

Fried okra and squash (Hey they are veggies)

Cream style corn with bread to sop up the juice

Grits with butter and sugar added to it.

On to the non "healthy" list

Country fried steak and gravy. you have to eat it with mashed potatoes and bread to not miss any of the gravy

biscuits and gravy

Fried Twinkies and Oreos. Yes, they sell them at football games here.

you can't have ribs without them dripping in bbq sauce and of course toast or fries so you don't waste any sauce

chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes and a biscuit

While I was not so adventurous as some of you, some of my snacks were:

potato chips w/ mustard on white bread

twizzlers dipped in marshmello fluff

Mashed potatos with lot of butter on white bread.

this is fun! Some of my favorites:

onion and butter sandwiches on white bread

a whole loaf of cooked garlic bread dipped in spagetti sauce

white bread with mustard, mayo, pepper and ketchup - god those were good!

homemade white bread with cheese whiz

kraft dinner made with butter, milk and ketchup

white pasta with anything on it at all!

you know, I am noticing a real pattern in all of these responses everyone has given...we all seem to have real issues with the white bread/pasta, and a lot of us have eaten the same foods in excess....thought to ponder hey?

boy... what doozies you all have eaten in your lifetime!!

mine: would come home from elementary school and chow down on 3 cans of canned spaghetti (if there wasn't any fresh in the fridge) with a loaf of white wonder bread, slathered in mayonnaise..
just slather the bread slice, dump the spaghetti on the bread and eat...
when the loaf was gone, i was done.

forget pints of ice cream.. they didn't make them in pints in the 60's...
we ate them by the half gallon.. pints were a single scoop to me!!!
but a half gallon.... a huge super scoop!

wonder bread slathered with mayo and peanut butter and bananas..

boxed cakes... everyday i made a boxed cake and ate it before dinner... if there weren't any canned spaghetti cans in the cupboard.

pancakes.. i always begged my dad to make them real thin so i could smother them in butter and roll them up and eat them..dipping them in a bowl of syrup.. i hated the thick pancakes... you couldn't roll them.

sausage and gravy with biscuits. these were on the menu every weekend.

bagels loaded with some form of flavoured cream cheese. the cream cheese was dominate.

fried egg sammich's... wonder bread, mayo, fried egg, slice of cheese... 4-5 of these after school if there wasn't any canned spaghetti.

i discovered Atkins in 1973, when i was 18...
so after i hit 18, i dropped these foods.
and then came pounds of pasta with some kind of sauce for dinner, nearly every PMS episode.... (Dreamfields was my downfall!)
and that's why i call LC substitutes "frankenfoods."

the queen of carbohydrates... pasta!!!

I will admit I never cared for it as an adult, but a childhood favorite was white bread sandwiches with Marshmallow Creme.

Well Im am a confessed carbaholic,if I just think about fried potatoes or rice and gravy my blood sugars spike and I get hunger cravings. What my downfall was simple carbs,I'd drink a 2 liter Coke during the day and go home from work and drink a pitcher of sweet tea while eating chicken and rice or cheeseburger macaroni and being in Texas the worst offender of all round steak pounded out and double dredged in egg wash and flour, then fried and smothered with pan gravy made with a cup of flour and buttermilk with a huge pile of french fries or mashed potatos with more gravy poured on top with 4 big slices of Texas Toast to soak up more gravy and then for dessert my favorite PECAN PIE!!!!which is nothing more than HFCS mixed with flour and vanilla poured in a crust..damn my blood sugars are spiking ..i gotta go eat some meat...lol

there are my all time favourites like sweets, chocolates, potato chips, choco crunchy cereals and all sorts of bread....
and I have to admit, vast majority of these I would still find delicious (sad, but true).
= so at least I can understand why I used to eat that.

but there are also some things I loved, ate tons of and what is worse, I honestly believed they were good for me. I lived in a delusion that Im eating healthy!!!

- tofu and soy "meat"..., just lots of soy (daily)
- low fat/fat free !!! cheese, milk and other dairy, absolutely no butter
- whole grain cereals with the highest possible amount of (added) fiber
- fat free cakes and ice cream as "a healthy desserts"
- 5+ fruit potrions a day
- fruit juices
- vegetables served with no or just a sprinkle of oil
- vegetarian "meat" products (I dont even have the courage to read their ingredients label again)

- now this truly makes me think I must have been crazy
