A relevant quote from the fine science fiction show Futurama:

"I've got a degree in homeopathic medicine!"
"You've got a degree in bologna!"

You may want to educate yourself more about alternative medicine. There are a number of remedies that you can taper off or use less of with lasting results.

This thread seems to be about info on experiences with homeopathic remedies. There's a wealth of data and studies about homeopathy, which has been around for a long time. You may never want to try it, but making claims that it's "all a ripoff" is disrespectful to people who find it worthwhile.

Some people base their opinions on what they hear. It is difficult to seek out new methods of helping ourselves (LC included).

It's a wonder these people found LC at all, seeing as how it's not the norm.

I think a lot of people here are replacing the word "alternative" with "homeopathic." Accupuncture for instance is not homeopathic medicine. Herbal remedies may or may not be homeopathic -- the tinctures and such are not homeopathic.

Vaccines actually are homeopathic.

I'm probably picking nits here, however.

The concept is homeopathic, however, cells extracted from aborted fetal cells is not.

If anyone is interested this looks interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeopathy. I confess it sounds like alchemy to me.

This is amusing...

Furthermore, since water will have been in contact with millions of different substances throughout its history, critics point out that any glass of water is therefore an extreme dilution of almost any conceivable substance, and so by drinking water one would, according to homeopathic principles, receive treatment for every imaginable condition.[90]

Well, I'm not sure that's where the cells come from (PLEASE cite a reputable source for that -- it's interesting) but no matter where they're from, they're still homeopathic. As distasteful as the source may be

I think a lot of vaccines are made from chicken eggs. A vegan might call those "aborted fetal cells" but most other people would not. However, I'm pretty ignorant about how vaccines are produced.

This is completely destroying the point of this thread, but to answer capmikee's question:

Info taken from here:

"Aborted babies used as source for rubella vaccine," Press Release,
Ohio Parents for Vaccine Safety (251 West Ridgeway Drive, Dayton, OH
45459; tel: 513-435-4750), 9 December 1994.

M. Jarmulowicz, "Use of fetal cell lines in vaccine production,"
<CMO>, November 1994, 26-28.

The vaccine industry and government regulatory agencies (e.g. U.S. Food and Drug Administration, World Health Organization, British Ministry of
Health, etc.) are trying to adopt alternative strategies to avoid returning to
aborted fetuses for vaccine components. Encouraging alternative
vaccine research for vaccine development will provide a strong
incentive to dissuade the future justification of further abortions
and fetal research for vaccine components.

I did a quick google search and interestingly, there WERE fetal cells used in some vaccines, and, interestingly, the cells are grown in a lab and were all from three fetuses (that's not a typo). NOW, fetal tissue isn't used. Real information on this, however, is not that easy to find with a google search as most sites instead of reporting facts choose to show gruesome pictures of aborted fetuses. As is their right

HOWEVER, it's still homeopathic.

My original point was nitpicking over definitions. And I learned something very interesting. Thank you

Edit to add: Apparently, chicken pox vaccine still has fetal tissue in it -- still cultured from cell line of the one embryo.

Except that traditional medicine produces side effects that homeopathic medicine does not.

So I don't lump them in the same category, because they are, in fact, different.
