I have them cut the dose back and that seems to help. I went to a seminar about alpha lipoic acid and the speaker recommended to take it right before a meal.

I think it should be taken in the middle of a meal to avoid any stomach upset.

Thanks for the information and tips! I tend to react to things with the runs and had a bad experience once with CoQ10. I now always take my CoQ10 with a meal, or after - but never on an empty stomach!

I take ALA when I'm eating a meal that's too high in carbs for me, I find I don't get the carb cravings and hunger that usually results when I eat off plan. I'm still experimenting with the doses, it all depends on the size of the meal and how carby it is.

ALA can cause a rash, and hypo if too large a dose is taken. I started at the 600mg caps, but switched to the 250mg. Yeast infections are more likely too. So instead of using it daily, I save it for carb-up days, or if I'm eating out, I take it with the meal so that it doesn't upset my stomach.

Sometimes I want to be a bit more loose with my carb level (during TOM and dining out), but always feared carb creep and cravings, but when I take ALA, I enjoy the higher carb meal, and go right back to regular LC without any difficult transition, my blood sugar levels stay stable. I do alot of peeing throughout the night (which is annoying) but I wake up back in ketosis. ALA is my secret weapon. It's not an easy tool to figure out, however the benefits prompt me to continue my experiment.

I've been taking it. Like most supplements I can't tell if it does anything whatsoever.
