Hi Judy: I know, I'm a ping pong ball. Geez. I am going to work hard on the plan...just can't deal with the emotional weigh-in triggers right now (i.e., "weigh-in isn't until Monday, so cheat now"). I need to weigh daily and not give myself any leeway, which happens for me when I do a weekly thingie. Sorry to everyone for being such a pain.

You are not a pain!!
Weighins are once a week....my personal weighins happen daily because I need to do that to keep me in line...or I'd have gained all my weight back by now. really!!
You should see the pile of index cards next to my scale in the bathroom! 4 1/2 years worth of daily weighins! But, I weigh only once a day and only in the morning after potty time.
What all this has taught me over time is that
-I need a lot of fiber to be regular each day.
-If I don't drink all my water, I get backed up
-as I was still in weight loss mode, it helped me to decide what I would allow myself to eat that day( how many fruits and if I'd eat starches( grains and or starchy veggies) I did my own version of carb cycling this way.
-logging my food did make a huge difference for me.

I hope that some of this helps you sweetie!!

I don't remember having told you the story of the Dutchman (from the upper north from the country) who decided to commit to the SB-diet in June 2008 . In case I didn't I'd love to share it with you here.

He started off with 225 pounds and has lost 40 pounds in the meantime, weighing 185 pounds now.

He strictly followed the SB-rules, wrote down exactly what he ate every day in his forum diary, stipulated which brand he had bought (in case of hidden unwanted suprises to be judged by the senior members) and shard the problems he faced.

I have copied his diary and will follow his example, hoping that I will lose weight almost as rapidly as he did.

I have compared his lists to the renewed advice on this forum (Judy's lists) and only found one discrepancy: the pork bacon. Although he thrived on 3 slices a day with his two eggs for breakfast, I, being a woman and therefore having a lower metabolism, will skip the pork becon just to be on the safe side.

He never once questioned a rule, a product, an advice given to him on the Dutch SB-forum. He simply asked for advice from time to time, had thouroughly studied the (old) book and the new advices on the forum and got on with it. To me he's a great example of how good and effective the SB diet is once the rules are strictly followed.

Since he is as strict and fanatical as I am and, like me, not very experienced in the kitchen (understatement!), his meals are easy to follow and will only take a couple of minutes to be prepared.

This morning I photopied the first 7 days from his journal and so I will eat exactly what he did in his first week in June. That way I don't have to find the time researching myself and making the mistakes beginners tend to make.

His fourth day's diary looked like this:

quote

O:
-glas tomatensap
-2 gekookte eieren
-3 plakken ontbijtspek
-1 beker magere yoghurt.

TD:
-1 ei
-2 bleekselderij stengels
-3 radijsjes
-30g 30+ kaas
-1 beker yoghurt

Lunch:

unquote

This specific and simple approach is exactly what I needed.

Hmmm, I think I recognize some of the things on his list, but I think the rest will require some translation. ...What is 1 ei? Can you translate?

I'll be more than happy to translate this particular menu on his fourth day, just as an example:

O: Breakfast
-glas tomatensap (glass of tomatojuice 180 grams)
-2 gekookte eieren (2 boiled eggs)
-3 plakken ontbijtspek (3 slices of pork bacon)
-1 beker magere yoghurt. (1 mug of skimmed yoghurt)

TD: In between
-1 ei (1 egg)
-2 bleekselderij stengels (2 stems of sellery)
-3 radijsjes (3 radishes)
-30g 30+ kaas (30 grams of 30+ cheese)
-1 beker yoghurt (1 mug of skimmed yoghurt)

Lunch:
-Salade van (eikenbladsla en Lollo bionde sla, pijnboompitten, gekookt eitje, radijsjes, blikje uitgelekt tonijn op water 130g, peconnoten, 2 eetl. olijfolie)

Salad of oakleaf lettuce and Lollo bionde lettuce, pineseeds, boiled egg, radishes, tin of tunafish in water, 130 gr., peacannuts, 2 TS of olive oil

TD: in between
-30g 30+ kaas (30 grams of 30+ cheese)
-5 radijsjes (5 radishes)
-5 kers-tomaatjes (5 cherry tomatoes)
-1 gekookt eitje (1 boiled egg)

D: Dinner
-Niet echt veel honger, kwam terug van de sport, dus heb de salade laten zitten, alleen 2 augurkjes voor de smaak. I wasn't particularly hungry, came back from sports, so I have skipped my salad. I just had 2 gherkins for the taste of it.

-1+1/2 bord met gestoomde snijbonen met sambal oelek. Dawas lekker
-Pepersteak (160g) (1,5 plate full of steamed French beans with hot sauce. That was nice. Peppersteak 160 grams)

Dessert (neem ik om 21:30):
-250ml kwark (als er genoeg is, anders vul ik het aan met karnemelk) (250 grams of curd = skimmed white cheese if I have enough of it at home. Otherwise I add skimmed sauermilk)

Skyliz-I'm glad you found a menu that you can work with.
I don't see any beans or legumes on his menu? Is a mug an 8 oz cup?
He is/was doing the old version of SB without beans.

It was his fourth day. Later on, in phase 2, he started to eat beans as I recall.

Marie, that's a great moment. Well done! .

Judy, yes a mug contains a little more than 8 fluid ounces.

When I weighed myself this morning I was pleasantly surprised to see that my weight had dropped from 136.5 lbs to 132.5 lbs. I must have got rid of a lot of superfluous water. Still it really motivates to continue.

And just like that - the 3 lbs of water weight is gone!! So I'm changing my weekly check-in weight back to 251.

Great, you already anticipated this. I gather that you particularly watched the saltlevel of your dinner last night?

Yep - all day as a matter of fact, except when I started munching on some pumpkin seeds in the afternoon. As soon as I noticed how salty they were, I stopped eating them (Don't know what I was thinking)

Drank extra water yesterday too - and washed out all that salt!!
