Weight loss is like a long road trip. If you take a wrong turn, do you keep on going in the wrong direction or do you turn the car around and get back on the right road? It is looking at things as good vs. bad or successful vs. failure that causes people to change their destination. You have to look at it as making a wrong turn and get back on the highway.

Susan, that's great, too. Hadn't thought about that!!!

It seems very strange to me that I am willing and able to go the distance on every other project in my life (work or home). I just start doing something and go until it's finished. But when it comes to food, I feel like I'm lost in a funhouse or something...seems like EVERYTHING gets in the way.

One of the things that's different is expectations...I sort of expect certain things to happen with weight loss (though I'm not sure they will) and with other projects, I just wait and see what happens (and I KNOW I will finish). If that makes any sense.

hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. I have been doing good this week. I have switched into phase two...well i have been eating lowfat yogart with granola from breakfast because its quick easy and i can eat it on the run. Work has been very hectic but i think i have made it through well.I am trying to change the way i THINK about food thing week. I have went on a mental diet. I tend to obsess over food and always make comments to people about how many calories are in things and how fat i am. I need to stop that. I find that it really does help alot.

Obsessing and thinking you are fat is not a very productive and positive way to live. Good for you!!

The thing is... other projects usually have some kind of finishing point. But being careful with your diet does not... well, at least it doesn't have any finishing point that you will be anxious to get to!!! With food we have to keep on keeping on for our whole lives.

hey everyone still here. I haven't yet master sb, but its getting much better more good days then bad. Really read the book, and I have to say he really explaned the reactive hyperglycema to a tee. Wow my own doctor didn't even go in to depth on eating nothing but 6 meals a day. So now I am really trying to make the lower GI choses when we eat out. of course I am driving the restrant staff crazy, but oh well. have a great night everyone.

Yes...exactly!!

But I will share with you that getting to my goal weight took a lot of pressure off my days. I was very focused on my food each day as I strived to finish. I put pressure on myself to stay focused and it was tiring.

But now I know that all the things that I did to stay on my plan, like writing my food into my journal each day, helped me to be in the habit of eating right each and every day!!

Welcome to the Beach, Kerri!!

Be sure to go to the first page of my journal as you will find food lists and meal plan charts there that I brught here from the official SBD site. Feel free to copy/print and use them as reference.

There is no "easy trick"...sorry to say, I wish there was something easy. It takes work to learn a new and healthy way to eat...SB taught me how to eat so after I lost the weight, I am still eating the same way I did to lose it and I do not gain my weight back.

So hang out with us and get comfy...cuz its quite a ride!!

It's the end of the week, but I suppose I can "check in" at this late date.

My weigh in last Monday was good - I was down 2.2 lbs. I've been successful at eliminating wheat as it made me hungrier, and I've managed to reduce my caffeine by combining decaf and high octane coffee...and gradually increasing the amount of decaf.

I've been doing a lot of canning, so I haven't exercised faithfully the last couple of weeks. I guess that can be my "small success" project for the next couple of weeks, along with drinking more water.

I weigh in again tomorrow, and I'm anxious to know if the changes are working.

Have a great Sunday.

Debi

Great for you Debi!!!
I have the same issue with wheat...but not with oats or rye. Once in a while I have oatmeal for breakfast.

I think that this type of elimination diet is what makes it work so well for us who stay on the plan.
