Hmm....no creamy salad dressings and no cream cheese....could be why my weight loss was so slow.... The difference is very interesting....salad or dill pickle...who knew....don't remember that at all...

I'm not sure I had the right amount either. I measured what I thought was a scant "loosely packed" measuring cup of mixed baby lettuces, and put it on my kitchen scale. It only weighed 1/2 ounce! Barely a few forkfuls! I added an ounce of cucumber, hoping that I wasn't "overdoing" it.

We'll all just learn together!

Great thread, Penni

Although I'm not specifically on Atkins, for all intents and purposes, I live on what could be called '72 Atkins, Paleo-style Whole foods, carbs under 40 a day, I'd guestimate.

I know that I always start overdoing it on the salads. I bought a new measuring cup. I believe he meant loosely packed to measure into a measuring cup. 1 to 2 cups is so little to me, but I notice a difference right away

I use full fat blue cheese dressing. Remember, in 70s they didn't have all the choices of pure fat dressings. (I remember my mom looking for dressings back then and I ended up with just oil and vinegar -- light on the vinegar, heavy on the oil and seasonings) You can make your own creamy dressings too. He has a lot of recipes in the 72 book.

I am so glad to see you have had fast results! It's super crazy this plan, isn't it? And still yummy!!!

[QUOTE=pennink]I use full fat blue cheese dressing./QUOTE]I wondered whether it would be okay to use my beloved blue cheese dressing. I ended up using just plain mayo, which didn't thrill me, but was better -- IMO, anyway -- than oil and vinegar.

I was up a couple of pounds when I got on the scale today, but I also feel like the Whoosh Fairy might be here. I've had to run to the bathroom 3 or 4 times in the hour since I woke up this morning!

ok. i'm in too. One other question. The rules talk about meat with fillers. I basically depend on these alot with my work schedule. Deli turkey breast, ham, pepperoni. Any suggestions for subs or brands that are better than others?

I'd cook up my own turkey or chicken and use that.

Processed meats have fillers, sodium, nitrates. I've avoided all lunch meat for a year, although I've had pepperoni about three times.

go real.

Thanks Pennink!

I need to get the ketostix still, and won't have my book for a week or
more, but starting tomorrow (Mon) I will begin following the '72 rules as
you printed them out.

Good Morning All,
Glad this thread was started............thank you! I am starting today and could really use the support.

Finished reading my book and ready to get things started. I had success with the New 2002 version but want to get as strict as possible and decided to give it a try.

Someone mentioned about bacon with sugar, when I first started Atkins 2002 version I didn't even read labels I was wolfing down bacon cured with sugar and although I still lost weight I wonder how much I could've lost. I have since found sugar free bacon Gwaltney no sugar added bacon and jusst yesterday I found Smithfield no sugar added and low sodium which is heaven to me b/c I really don't want to over do it with the sodium.

Really excited to do this and look forward to reading about everyone's experience.

I'm interested, definitely! I just ordered a used copy of the 1972 book from Amazon - you can get a used copy fairly cheap. I typed in "Atkins Diet," but had to scroll through several pages to find the 1972 book. Will start today - holiday weekend or not! Maybe this will jumpstart me back in gear.

Default New Diet Revolution Vs '72 Version

I thought you were to have no carbs for the first week. Am I missing something here? In the carb counter book I have, cheese has carbs.
The New "Diet Revolution" that I have seems to have a lot of differences from
when I tried Atkins about 8 years ago.
The idea is to have NO carbs while on the induction phase, correct? Really getting confused between the two, now.

Hi Crimar

"as close to zero as possible"

it's about 5 to 10 a day. But one week only.
