I've had the same problem all my life. Eating low carb helps in that it's more manageable - most of the time - but it never really goes away. One strategy I've used is to eat sunflower seeds in the shell - they last a long time and (for me, anyway) are satisfying, and it's hard to really overdo them because they take so long to eat.

I wanted to ask some advice. How do you deal with evening eating? I find it difficult to not eat at night. It is the empty feeling that I am not comfortable with and also that I get bored. I just want to know what works for someone who has successfully conquered this habit.

Thanks and merry Christmas Eve.

I hear ya! Evening eating is a tough one, especially with the boredom factor throw in. I try to get into a really good book, one that I can't stand to put down, even to go to the fridge! Ha ha .

I have also recently started having cocoa at night when I feel the empty feeling, I drink it hot and slowly and it really seems to help.

I use 1% milk, the lactose kind 'coz it's sweeter not 'coz I have a problem with milk. I treat myself to an amazing deep roasted organic cocoa from the health food store, and I also use the "Wholesome Foods Zero" - because it's ZERO Glycemic, ZERO Calorie, ZERO Artificial - it's made from real sugar so no chemicals. It's great and I only use one packet in the cocoa per night so not much, and with it being 0 glycemic there is no sugar thing happening afterwards .

Hope that helps - I also make sure to have lots of veg, and some good low fat protein with dinner.

Not sure what LC you are on though - I'm on South Beach. I found the more I was on SB the less I was hungry in the evening and the more the cocoa really helped. I make it a rule not to eat after 7pm, just something I like to do and feel better in the morning, but I save the cocoa for around 9pm and it helps me sleep much more deeply too.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone - my oldest son is 24 today!!

Ms A

Hey Julie, it's not THAT wet! We've had several good golf days lately even though heavy rain has been in the forecast - it's sooo nice when the weatherman is wrong the right way!!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, and best wishes to us all for 2008 - may it be the year we all reach goal!!!

Glenda

Hi Marlene and Susan R! Welcome!

Marlene, to get back to the Canadian's page ... go to the "Forum Jump" pull down menu at the very bottom of the page, then scroll down until you see the Local Low-carbers and support groups, then choose "Canada" and you should end up here.

I have a friend who lives in Habitant Novia Scotia ..... anywhere near you guys?

Paula
