Excellent! Yes, definitely get some 8, 10, & 12lb dumbbells to start. You'll be surprised at how strong you can get. In the past, when I have been strength building, I have curled 25lb dumbbells. It was a feat of strength for 4 reps! HA! I'm sure you could get to that within 6 months!
There is no better investment you can make in your body than getting a home gym. I have one too...some DB's, bars with weight plates to go on the ends, bands, a ball, an elliptical and a recumbent bike. I bought all that stuff before I became a trainer and had access to free gym memberships. Now hubby uses the equipment.
You're on your way, babe! Let me know what you end up getting and I can help you out with some exercise resources...there's a ton of good sites that trainers use for advice and new exercises!
