my bf was joking the other night, "does semen have carbs?" well, that got him a punch in the stomach for an answer...

now im starting to wonder... does it? i know it has calories.

I always heard it mostly protein, so over the years I have heard many jokes about "how about a protein boost" etc.

According to TeenWire :

Semen does contain protein, but it also contains all kinds of chemicals and minerals, including water, sugar, calcium, chlorine, magnesium, nitrogen, vitamin B12, and zinc. It does rear its head from time to time. The answer is "a negligible amount, at most".

Since we are talking about health, the question is... does semen contain anything that might cause a negative health impact if taken orally, like maybe an immuno-suppressant?

IF what your do for a living is nobodies business than perhaps you shouldn't flash it about in your nickname.

If it was gross, than just ignore it. Rather than insulting everybody else with your comments.

I think the OP was probably embarassed ENOUGH to ask the question, no need to shame her about being 'gross" for asking a simple question.

There are many kinds of doctoral degrees that have nothing at all to do with medicine! For all anyone on this site knows, DrH holds a Doctor of Divinity degree, or a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, neither of which would give her occasion ever to see "patients," nor to address questions of the nature being discussed in this thread.

For that matter, it's quite possible that her use of "Dr" doesn't even mean "doctor." Maybe it represents something entirely different that has significance for her. I do hold a doctoral degree, definitely not in medicine, and I've never seen a patient in my entire life other than those sitting in my own medical doctors' waiting rooms when I walk in!

I agree... it is gross... but hey, its a normal, healthy thing. If we're all being adult about it. Im sure im not the only person with this question. Now we all know. Semen has sugar in it. Time to tell the men to zip it up.

my sil is a pharmacist, and a moron. The in-laws think she's *wonderful*... and they call her "dr. rob"..... so sometimes having dr. in there doesn't even mean squat!

The subject is gross, DrH was in a sense agreeing with the OP who herself regarded it as innapropriate.
