I have read it too, but how did they got to the top first, were taken by chopper . I also read that walking uphill lowers cholesterol.
In any case, walking downhill is by far the worst exercise ever for bad knees, and walking uphill is good exercise for your heart and the best for butt and tighs. I also think walking uphill is harder and more stress on the body, so liver releases glucogen, which can be intrepreted as reduced ability to process sugar.
