So glad to have you on board Ruthy!!!! I saw in the other thread that you bought some new running shoes yesterday...........so did I!!!!!!!!!! I was waiting to buy some after I was certain that I was going to continue with this addition to my new WOL. Well, yesterday cinched the deal.......and I splurged on some heavenly $100 running shoes. They felt so great I was tempted to run again today........but I learned my lesson on that one before and so I forced myself to abstain!! LOL

Have a fabulous runners day all!!!

I did my third run today in my new shoes which were great, though I feel a bit sore now. It was pouring rain and windy but I still enjoyed it.
How long you been running Scott? Good for you and everyone else!
Thanks p.ivy, you running this weekend?

Thumbs up Week 3 Run#10

Another successful run today. I got a pedometer, but had trouble getting the steps right. It appears that I ran 2.25 or so miles in 15 minutes. I also did 5 minutes of walking before and 5 after. It wasn't quite so wonderfully efortless as the other day, but wasn't what I would call difficult either. I did enjoy it a lot. Can I tell you all something embarassing.........I cried while I was running. Cried tears of joy for what I'm becoming, and tears of sadness for the girl that I was. It was a very amazing experience.

Totals:

Running - 15 minutes
Walking - 10 minutes

Oh P.I that's not embarassing, I think that is so nice of you to put it on here! I sat last sept on this computer bawling my eyes out and bawling even more when my husband sent me flowers as I thought how on earth can he fancy me this big. I never want to go back to go back to that again.
When I'm running I'm smiling as I can't quite beleive it's me, jogging along, getting fitter and getting slimmer, it feels wonderful.
keep it up!

It's nice to hear all your progress. I ran a mile today. It was the first time I have in several months, so I was really happy.

My question is for the women. Do you have any suggestions for running sneakers? Mine just don't give me enough support.

I started in mid january and only get to run 3-4 days a week, so I am happy to be where I am currently at.

There is nothing embarassing about it, I think to myself "did I just really do this" the farther I manage to go. Feels great doesn't it?

it does feel great.
Kerbear I got running shoes from the running shop, I tried on a few as I have wide feet, but mine are mizuno and they are really comfortable. They were in the sale at 80 euros which I think is a lot but all the rest were over a hundred so I think I did ok. They have gel in them and what a difference running.

Update.................my pedometer skills are seriously lacking and my real running distance was only about 2 miles, maybe 1.something. Sorry about the error ya'll!!!

It's so great to be doing this with you all. To have you all understand what the transformation feels like and the amazement that occurs every time you get up to do it and every time you're able to push yourself even farther!!!

Aren't the "real running shoes" awesome Ruthy!!! I felt like I was gliding on air the other day. What a difference.

I'm going to try to get running shoes today before I work out. I am hoping the will make a difference, because I have gotten shin splints in the past.

I joined a gym at the beginning of February and had a hard time walking on the treadmill at first -- not because I was in SUCH bad shape, but because I couldn't get used to the movement!

I just ran on the thing the first time last week -- now I think I'm hooked!

Today I walked 5 mins, jogged 7 min, walked 7 min, jogged 6 for a total of 25 min. I NEVER would've believed I could do this if someone had asked me!!

Today's run was hard. Every step was hard..........but I pushed through it and did 16 minutes, just under 2 miles, and 10 minutes of walking. As usual, regardless of how easy or hard the run was, I'm really glad I did it and I feel much better now.

Hope everyone is having a great running day!!!
