What I meant about appetite control is that Byetta lets me resist snacking very easily. For the first time in my life it is easy to 'forget' to eat. I have always wanted to eat and experienced hunger well in advance of mealtimes - especially if I was trying to lose weight. My co-workers have to remind me to eat these days. You can still make bad choices and eat too many calories, but it is much easier to make good choices when you are not ravenously hungry.

I've been on Byetta now for 19 days and have lost at least 6 pounds. I've never been able to do this before in my life. I feel in control and have to remember to eat because it is time. I have only had a little nausea twice and drank some water and it went away. I actually want to drink a lot of water also.

I don't have insurance so I had to pay $190 for a months supply. My doctor didn't want to give it to me because my A1c is 6.0 but she sent me to a diabetes center and because my fasting blood suger is usually 120 to 130 they recommended to her that she give it to me. I know that if I can loose weight it will help my blood sugar. For once in my life I feel like I am losing weight at a pace that I've never been able to do before and I am not hungary and eat much smaller meals. When we go out to eat my daughter and I share a plate and she eats more of it than me.

I am really excited. I don't want to pay for the medicine but if I lose enough weight I figure it is worth it in the long run to help my bg control. It also seems to be controling my bg during the day. If I time the shot right it doesn't go over 120 after a meal.

I've actually posted this in my journal, but since I've been contributing to this thread I thought I would post the basics of it here too. I went back to my Dr on Monday - it was a day short of two months since I started Byetta. I don't have any bloodwork back yet (standard labs, no A1C until next month) but I've lost 24 pounds!
