It was a very good substitute to an old favorite of mine. Next time I will remember to use UNsalted butter.

Hi im a newbie here ( used to belong to that OTHER site) anyway here is something you will like if you love funnel cakes or donuts.

1 egg white
3 tbsp of davincis syrup (4 if your making a funnel cake)(vanilla, dulce, carmel, really anything you fancy that isnt strong)
7 drops of liquid splenda
3 tbsp of carbquick
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 tsp of baking powder
pinch of nutmeg (optional)

(this works well with a fry daddy, but 3 inches of oil in a small pan for funnels is fine too...more oil for donuts)

Whip the egg white till frothy, add the davincis and liq. splenda..whip till very soft peaks form (not meringue like, just before meringue)

add remaining ingrediants well. (not neccessary to just fold, give them a good stirring up)

in the preheated fry daddy (carefully to avoid splatter) pour in batter for funnel cake (or drop large spoon fuls for donuts) wait till lightly golden and turn.

I top mine with fresh cut strawberries and davincis strawberry syrup and whipped cream. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE YOUR MOUTH! TASTES EXACTLY LIKE THE STUFF THE OLD HIGHCARB FUNNEL CAKES! very low in carbs! (about 4 for the whole thing, not counting topping)

I posted my recipe below, you may want to try real butter in the batter to make it thinner.....

I haven't done that yet, I am going to try it next time. Just don't poor alot of batter in the pan and they will be thin.

French Crepes ..............these are also good for stuffing sloppy joes

1 cup carb quick
3/4 cup milk (I used half milk and half water)
2 eggs

I added a little bit of splenda to my batter...

You can sprinkle them with splenda, or use carb free syryp

1. Beat carbquick, milk and eggs in small bowl with fork or wire whisk until blended. Lightly butter 8-inch skillet; heat over medium heat until bubbly. For each crepe, pour 2 tablespoons batter into skillet; immediately rotate skillet until batter covers bottom. Cook until golden brown. Run wide spatula around edge to loosen; turn and cook other side until golden brown. Stack crepes, placing waxed paper between each; keep covered.

I was just about to ask if anyone had made pie crust with carbquick. I noticed you didn't use shortening/lard--why not?

You guys have to try this recipe. I found a recipe using bisquik and tweaked it and made 2 versions of it tonight for dinner. It is a Oh so simple Pizza Crust and so easy to work with.

version1 :
2 cups carbquik
1/4 cup very hot water
1/4 cup cheez whiz

version2 :
1 cups carbquik
1 cup wheat protein isolate
1/4 cup very hot water
1/4 cup cheez whiz

Stir flour, cheese whiz and hot water until soft dough forms. Place dough on surface sprinkled with carbquik; roll in carbquik to coat. Shape into a ball; knead about 5 times or until smooth. Roll or pat dough into 12-inch circle pizza sheet. Spread pizza sauce over dough. Top with veggies or favorite topping. Sprinkle with cheese

Bake ~ 375 degrees about 20 min

Yum!!

Hey guys, if you haven't already, be sure to post your recipes in a new thread in the section they belong in, too. A lot of folks won't see these once this thread disappears onto the back pages.

Now I'm VERY curious (and not just about trying these creations)...what other site? (I'm probably STILL a member ). You can actually post out-of-site links here, ya know. Much more relaxed than many other sites...

ps: also, which variety of liquid splenda are you using? They all have different strengths: locarber.com, sweetzfree.com, fiberfit ? another one?

So, KevinPA, are you going to post these great Carbquik casserole recipes in the Quick Meals and Snacks
http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=40
section?

Or the Main Dishes
http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=39
section?

and those cool recipes would be handy to have in the appropriate sections, GinaLeanne....

Hmmmmm, for browsing readers of this forum in those sections, it would be just GREAT if the subject line could read something like Carbquik Recipe:Impossible Chicken Bake (just as an example). It would be SO easy to find Carbquick recipes for everyone, that way.
