I checked out your gallery...holy crap!!! You are workin' it baby!! Are you natural?? Please don't take this question as any offence but, my god, you are pretty damn muscular and I am totally amazed at your physique!! If that is natural you are one of the lucky ones that have won the "genetic lottery!!". Please share your story!!

Yes, I am natural. But don't just chalk it up to genetics. Yeah, I've got some good genetics, but I also worked very hard to get this way. As I see it, there is no luck involved at all. It took a lot of hard work and a lot of discipline as far as dieting is concerned. And I see women make changes like this all the time w/ the right training program and diet.

Personally, I don't like what squats do for me. Maybe its because I used to go to heavy, but they made my waist thicker and gave me more of a boxy look. I prefer using leg sleds. But, whatever works best for each individual, you just have to experiment.

Squats and deads are the keys to a great lower body - whether you're male or female.

Just a comment on the whole growth hormone thing. Growth hormone is not the reason for growth. GH is actually more of a fat burning hormone than it is anything. And it is lactic acid production and the resultant drop in pH that causes it to increase, not squatting or deadlifting or using compound movements per se. Many people focus way too much on growth hormone and it really makes little difference. Even those that choose to administer real GH (in supraphysiological doses) don't notice any extra growth, unless it is taken with plenty of androgens. What they do notice is more fat loss. The exercise induced increases in GH are insignifcant.

Okay, wow, this is really interesting. So how do you get GH to increase, without sticking yourself with needles?

i believe supplementing with L-Ornithine and arginine is a popular method...I haven't tried it.

Wow! So if someone naturally has lower growth hormone levels, they would have a hard time burning fat, despite weight training?

Yes, I believe this would make it harder. I know our GH levels drop as we age, so this is consistent with the fat we tend to pack on as we age.

It doesn't work.

The studies that were done on these compounds that showed a positive correlation were with intravenous administration, not oral consumption. The quantity used was also very high.

Thiis another example of supplements that didn't pan out.

Okay, so what does?

I've heard that "lactic acid" training will help induce it.

Your thoughts?

Sure it will. As I said in the earlier post, the drop in blood pH (associated with increased lactic acid) will result in increased levels of GH.

However, and this is a very big however, the increase is not significant enough to affect you, at least in terms of changing your body. The effects are minimal. I personally feel that focusing on exercise induced increases in GH is not a worthwhile endeavour. It's minutia.

Train hard with compound exercises, and you're on your way to a hot body.

A friend of mine is a rower and he recently started taking baking soda to try and combat those lactic acid pains...I really am not convinced!

I bet they make him wanna throw up lol

It does work to buffer lactic acid, but so does training yourself to clear lactic acid more efficiently. How? By training in a way that produces it.
