Non carbup fat intake:
For bulking diet: ketosis proportions, so ass-high fats.
For cutting diet: moderate, comfortable levels of fat, but don't struggle to get in any extra.

Whey protein with a tiny bit of carb is fine, just include it in your daily counts.

I'm only using whey for pre-lifting these days, and cottage cheese for post. Whey is fast, and it was triggering too much insulin and stalling me. Hopefully, this will break my stall.

Remember to fatty up your whey shake - olive oil, Udos oil, flax oil, whipping cream - something to slow down the digestion of it a bit and correct the ratios.

Bump for mps - how much oil do you put in your shakes?

My new fav protein powder is Whey Fruitty lemonade flavor. I make very diluted PWO shakes with it that taste like lemonade. The one thing about it is that the label totally lies - you do have to use a blender to get it to mix well.

Word,
NHE plan states on the low carb phase (down cycle) .
Greatest amount of protein then moderate fat and moderate/low carbs.
The quantity of macro nutrients varies as to which plan you are doing. Moderate fats is what Rob says. As far as watching your fats are you talking about the types of fats? Good fats / bad fats ?
Whey protein I buy Optimium Nutrition brand.
It tastes good and has a good protein ratio per serving. When comparing proteins look at the per scoop/ serving protein grams.
Optimuim is 110 cals 1.5g fat, 22 g protein, 2 carbs.
It runs about 34.00 for 5 pounds.

actually jag, i was just trying to make sure that i can still have my bacon and eggs in the morning :x since i have switched from low-fat to atkins...i've realized how much i missed these things and would hate to give them up again.. [but i will if it means getting sexy!!]

on days that i carb-up i probably wont eat that much fat. [or do i have that wrong] i read that section last night after studying A&P at like 2am.

Also, i saw that you lift on MWF and carb-up tuesday/saturday. I think that your routine is probably best for me since i'm back in school :\ do you think it will be okay for a beginner?

I think it would be great for a beginner.
I eat regular LC meals and calories (high protein & fat) on my carb up days Tuesday and Saturday. On the carb up days I would guess my calories to be over 3400 a day. My normal LC calories are around 2500.
For dinner(s) I switch to high carb, low fat/protein meals.
The last two carb ups I ate spaghetti and red sauce! You need to stay under 20 g protein and fat (on bulking plan) on your carb up meals.

i went to gnc today and bought some whey protein. the lady that was working there told me that i should have 1 scoop pre- and 1 scoop post-workout. she also said that i should do about half an hour of cardio after lifting or the protein will turn into fat. is this true?? i thought that while doing nhe you should lay off the cardio for a while. opinions?

I'm not sure what it takes to work at GNC... I think all you need is a face No blank heads allowed.

Anyway, I'm thinking that 1 scoop of whey post workout could perhaps slow the fat burn that you would otherwise experience afterward. (It would not "turn to fat") But it also may stop the muscle catabolism.

I've stopped taking whey PWO - I'm doing real food. Cottage cheese at the moment. I was having insulin problems with the whey PWO - it was interfering with my fat loss.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this... I just saw it. The amount of oil depends on how many calories I'm shooting for, but... One scoop whey (90 cals. 17 p. 2 carbs.) with one or two tbls. oil.
When I'm more interested in mass building or I'm expecting the whey to be like a real meal, I'll take 2 scoops with 4 tbls. oil. (600 cal shake!)
To be honest... for the last few day's I've also been having 1 scoop of whey with real food post workout.

I'm really likeing real food post workout. I don't think I'll go back, unless I want to bulk again and won't mind the fat I put on.
