sorry guys.. dumb question!!!

built, you said you lift 3 days a week on this plan, right?? do you ever do cardio [ie. hiit]?? also, since im just starting do you think i should do the "bulking" or "cutting" version????

all of this stuff is so interesting!!! it makes me want to major in something other than nursing. i have 2 A&P classes this summer and microbiology next semester so im interested to see if we talk about a lot of stuff like this. i can't wait til my book gets here! it should be here any day now

i think you should bulk. incidentally, i'm doing the bulk version right now and lifting 4x a week. no hiit during a bulk... and light/brisk cardio maybe 2x after lifting (though i have not been doing any lately, lol).

try for about 12 weeks or so. built? opinions?

when you come off of it you want to decrease the cals to about maintenance and then use the cutting methods to drop off any fat you might have put on. so far i haven't put any on (i appear to have leaned out slightly) but i'm just at the beginning.

i train the same way regardless of my goal... except i throw a little more cardio in.

I was thinking bulking might not be a bad idea because w0rd is so lean NOW, but PERSONALLY, since I find bulking EASY and cutting HARD, I would opt to cut for summer, then bulk for the winter, even if it IS sub optimal. Either way would be fun, though!

Amazing, I'm so impressed by all the knowledge you have. Think I'll order the book tonight, I want to start lifting again. It's been awhile, and the thought of working a new plan like this fascinates me.

because the book says to eat one carbup meal for the fat burning plan and two carbup meals for the mass building plan. i'm wanting to burn fat, not gain mass. thus, one meal?

unless i'm mistaken, any time your body is burning bodyfat, you'll hit ketosis. could happen if you ate nothing but pixy stix all day as long as you were not eating enough to sustain your energy requirements...

Default Yeah, but...

...it also says that the 200g of carb recommendation is part of the bodybuilder plan and that the general plan is only 40g or above...which suggests less than 200g?

The way I'm doing it now is to have ONE serving of carb - kinda like the amount you would have if you were having a "regular" carb-based meal. I did this last night (fat burner plan): a bowl of whole grain pasta, tomato sauce, a couple of ounces of turkey, pat of butter, parmesan cheese. I didn't measure, but it was a generous, but not RIDICULOUS, serving. I felt very satisfied, and I could have eaten MORE of it simply because carbs are so darned EASY to eat, but it was quite sufficient. After I drank some water, it swelled a bit anyway (this is why Rob recommends only sipping water during the "bulking" plan by the way - so you have room for more)

Yeah, I actually like that NHE is a bit ambiguous - it just really IS different for everybody. By giving guidlines, but not specific numbers or ratios, it forces you to find the right mix for YOUR body, and not try to make ratios that work for 60% of the population work for you.
