Talking Hey sis :)

Well, nuttiness does tend to run in the family Thanks for replying! Wow, your progress is amazing! What discipline you have not to step on a scale for two years! I know what you mean about the bloated thing. I will try to cut back on meat and see what happens-- I just don't know after all those years of depriving myself of animal foods, if this is wise. Guess I just have to listen to the old bod
By the way, so what nut is your fav? Mine is pretty obvious, lol. I really like pecans too.

Hazelnut, I think we've turned this thread into sisters yapping but we have the lowest traffic here anyway, hoho ^.^;;

My favorate nuts is hazelnut, seriously! But since I am a forever broke grad student, I live off sunflower seeds and narual PB most of the time. Walnuts are dangerous, they are too easy to eat and I tend to OD

I am pretty sure I am meat-intolerant because I can't seem to digest animal flesh, they just sat there like a block forever, and I ended up "bloated". Have been veg for 6+ year, think I have plenty fun just way it is.

Oh the scale, not the will power thing, it was just that I moved away from home and never bought one for myself. Hmmmm....I am skinny but my skin get all shiny from the nuts, weird, before I was heavy and ULTRA dry and now I am skinny and oily man I don't understand the fat distribution logic.

nuff yapping..... ^^;;

I've been eating really low carbs for about four days now, but I just read the chapter on induction in the New Atkins... book and it looks like I need to be lot stricter, cutting out nuts and milk and reducing the amount of vegetables. That's going to be really tought - I'm already getting bored of boiled eggs and omlettes! I live in the UK and we don't seem to be able to get the variety of low-carb prepared foods that are available in the states - and those that are on sale are reeeeally expensive.

I don't really understand about how much fat I'll need to eat to make it work. I normally eat very low fat, so introducing more will be weird - I don't really like fatty foods much. I know canivores can eat as much meat as they like, so I've been doing that with meat replacements, but now I'm worried I might be getting too much protein and not enough fat, so that the protein could be getting converted to glucose! Arrggh, it's so confusing!

Also, I do like to socialise and have the odd alcoholic drink, I can't really find anything on the atkins book on this - does anyone know what the rules are? My partner is having a birthday party next saturday, so it'd be a real bummer if I couldn't drink at all!

Anyway, it looks like you're all doing really well on the plan, so good for you! Any help or support would be much appreciated - I'm starting induction properly today!

xxxx

Have you folks tried the Mock Danish? Oh my God. I can't get enough of it -- maybe that's not such a good thing. But luckily it's very filling, so there's not much chance of really overdoing it...

I make mine with 8 oz. cream cheese, 2 eggs, a big splash of the Butter Rum da Vinci syrup, and some pumpkin pie spice. Soften the cream cheese, mix it all together, bake it in toaster oven at 350 for 15 minutes. Last, melt 1 T butter, brush it over the top, set oven to "toast" and brown for a minute or two. Turn out onto plate and YUM! It's like a cross between French Toast and hot bread pudding. High protein, too.

Hi Sweetmango, Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I went on holiday for a bit and kinda fell off the low carb wagon for a while. Back on board now though. I'm on 20g again at the moment, but I think I'll just stick to that for another week as I find it too restrictive and miss my veggies too much. I've actually stopped counting now on normal days - I just cut out the bad stuff and seem to be doing fine. I've really got back in to going the gym too - I'm doing lots of running and cycling and also spinning and yoga classes. So I'm feeling pretty good in general lately.

How are things with you? Do you stick to particular plan? You must be on some kind of maintence by now looking at your progress - well done!

Sounds scrummy Nicola, but I've never Rum da vinci or pumpkin spice here in the UK - what are they? I wonder if I could replace with something else...
