Default Atkins in Cork

Hello all
this is my 1st post to the Irish group,
I have done this before and lost about 2 stone but alas it has all come back
I blame the " the drink" and my lax attitude while " under the infulence"
I have just bought some atkins bars in Boots in Cork and maybe the will be a help in induction
I started last week at 17-8 lbs and weighing yesterday was 17-01
A good boost but I guess that is all water
what i am looking for is a suitable drink I use Diet 7up is that OK instead of water , I find the water hard work , and still have a few cups of tea with milk each day

so thats it over my 1st post

Thanks

Gunner

hiya,

Well done on the induction. I also lose heaps but let it creep back so i've to get back into it now this week! All the diet drinks are fine as they dont have any carbs in them so they'll keep me going in work. I also drink tea with milk and it doesnt seem to effect my weightloss (neither do a few glasses of wine or vodka with a diet drink!).

Hi Gunner:

Welcome

I used to drink loads and loads and loads of 7UP. The problem is the aspartame in the soda that can "fool" your body into thinking it is sugar. Plus the aspartame does not have a great reputation chemically speaking either.

Kerry Spring has come out with flavoured water that uses Splenda for a sweetner. The blackberry is my favourite with lots of ice.

This isn't the Kerry Spring drink that you normally see in the Spar, etc. Huge 2 liter bottle at the grocery store and says Splenda on the back.

I personally don't drink tea (i'm a transplanted American) but I love a cup of coffee in the a.m.

Alcohol - hmm that's my downfall. Hard being low carb AND freakin sober!!!!

Good Luck and stop by if you like.....

K

Deelite, gunner was here last May posted once and never again so I presume he won't be back. There's feck all Irish people on this forum and very few male dieters.

Best of luck with the diet, Those atkins bars and sauces and dressing are mainly for when your out of induction but at least its an alternative to the way I was eating.

Hi Dumbletore,

Thanks for pointing out that it was May when this thread started I wasn't being the most observant.
I'm finding this really hard, I don't think I'm stupid, but I did find the Atkins Revolution book hard going, I think I have got more practical ideas and tips from here. I;m basically sticking to meat, cheese and eggs, with the occasional bit of salad, veggies. I have lost a few pounds but it's really boring, the same food all the time.....
Have you ever foung that??
How do you get over that??

Dee.

The book deals with a lot of crap that just goes over my head and I don't bother reading it anymore and any information I need I get it from these forums.
The diet does seem boring, but I pressume if your diet was anything like mine its changed hugely from fastfood, chocolate and beer to steaks omlettes and veggies. After a while when you see results you'll get into a pattern and without out realising it you'll be consuming a lot less calories than your daily intake requires and lose weight that way
Compared to last year there's a lot more choice out there now for people trying to switch to low carb products

Hi Dumbletore,

Can you tell me if there is anywhere on the board where people give a rumdown of whatthey eat , I'm really worried that I'm overdoing it with the carbs. Or can I bounce a typical day's eating off you please????

Thanks in Advance,
Dee.

Hi Deelite,

you can also have a look at people's fitday. They normally have them as part of their signature, and all the food they eat is entered there. Have a look at mine, but it's probably a bit chaotic ;-) And I probably wouldnt advise anybody to eat as much whipped cream with cocoa powder as I do, but I'm trying to cut down a bit...

Thanks for the info and advise.........
Gettin a bit concerned about the amount of milk I'm drinking, maybe too much calories. I'm substituting milk for cofee, so maybe 4 glasses of full fat a day??

Thanks
Dee.

Oh thanks a mil for the info on milk, not something I would normally be thinking about! Given me the nudge to start drinking water though.

Going to the pub tonight, that will be interesting, the first time in a long time that I won't be having a few with these particular group of pals.
Tomorrow it'll be good, I'll feel sooooo much better.

Hope you all have good weekends,
Dee.
