I just celebrated 7 months of being smoke free.....my best advise is to take it one hour at a time.....if you want a cig....promise yourself you will wait one hour and if you still want one then....have one.....I found I got busy and I forgot about it. I remember when I first quit....I got a lot of helpful advise on this board from former smokers.....I was fit to be tied....but they kept me going. Now I can say that quitting smoking is the best thing I've ever done...and I wish you all success & don't beat yourselves up.....tomorrow is another day....just keep trying.

Hugs,

Habit is the worse part. When I gaev up smoking I had to stop all chat rooms, let other people drive me, and get in and out of the bathroom as fast as possible. Those were all my smoking trigger places.

If driving teens to school is one, have one of them drive if they are old enough. To a 15 year old that would probably make you a hero.

Also if they smoke, outlaw all smoking in the house. Not only will it improve everyones health, but it will be much easier to go without when you don't have to breath 2nd hand smoke all the time, or watch them smoke.

My hardest time, even a year after quiting, was when drinking. Alcohol and ciggaretts just seem to go hand in hand, esp when at a bar with smokers. Not sure what to say to help you there. About the only thing is try to get the most generic, nastyest brand of smokes you can. That wya one puff will remind you why you quit. (After a few days smelling a smoker will make you wonder if you ever really smelled that bad and remind you of why you quit as well)

I just bought Alan Carrs book. It is big and the print is small. It is about 500 pages so should take me a couple of weeks to go through it. I don't have alot of down time. So I am still here trying. The hardest part for me is the habit, what to do when I don't smoke. So hopefully in the next month I will be a non-smoker. Wish me luck that the book helps.

Hey angie - I quit yesterday - lots of cravings etc. - cleaning house to take my mind off of smoking - did all the cupboards, started in my office - boy if this keeps up I will have the cleanest house in town! Cleaned the car as well!

Enjoyed lunch the other day - you sure are looking great!

Hi Betty-Anne:
Congrats on no smoking. It is hard for sure. If you get your house all cleaned up and need some more , you can start on mine until all the cravings are gone.LOL
We both are doing so well. We will be good looking babes walking around town this summer. I am off to your journal.
