Hi folks

Back from my research, cant believe 26 postings in the 2 hours i was away ! .

Strange how the subject of booze gets a fast response from this group .

Missed one off my list :-

Marstons " Low C "

pint ( approx 2 bottles )

Cals - 170
Carbs - 3.3g

As for Draught beer being lower than Lagar i still not sure but thats what the database had. However it didnt make it clear if it was Keg or Traditional Cask.

My research continues and will keep you all informed.

Steve

ps enjoyed a nice bottle of red wine and only 1.5g

Out of interest, how are our musical friends doing this morning?! Ketosis and weight wise, that is... we can all guess how your heads are!

The thing is, as fantastic as that list of carbs sound, they don't list alcohol carb content. Bearing in mind the ingredients involved (sugar cane for rum, grapes for wine, etc), you can be sure of some serious hidden carbohydrates. So I looked up to see what's been said about them so far...

Some of them are listed here http://forum.lowcarber.org/showpost...559&postcount=4 in a very good posting on the "Booze!!" thread (found here http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=35410)

To give a good example from that posting, those 0 grams of carbohydrate in spirits translate to 40g of alcohol carbohydrate. Not so "free" when you look at it in that light...

Before anyone thinks I'm trying to be a killjoy... rest assured I'm just trying to figure out how long I have to turn down invitations to the pub for!!!

the one thing about spirits is it doesn,t send up bgs,if anything, it lowers bgs so for me a few drinks now and again is fine.as this is a lifelong woe,a little bit of what you fancy does no harm in moderation.and its fun!

How many carbs do you normally have a day and how many did you have yesterday Christine?
I still think the reason i was so ill was due to LC.

ahhhhh ebbie, you,ve touched on the reason that i had a drink in the first place.normally i have between 30 and 50 gs and not more than 10 gs per meal.however, last night i hit the nut jar with a vengence and to be honest i also had my spoon in the peanut butter jar(hangs head in shame).this double wammy would have resulted in rising bgs but alcohol lowers them so thats the reason for me having a drink.its not something i do very often but hey, girls have to have fun sometimes.
if i had a drink without eating slightly more carbs, bgs would go too low and it makes me ill.it would also result in the dawn phenomenom-bgs too high on a morning and staying high all day.
doing it my way means i can have my cake and eat it(so to speak)
after all this time l-cing i know my own body and how it will respond, everybody has to have a bit of fun now and again, don,t you think.
by the way,i don,t have very much,2 barcardis and i,m anybody,s!

Wow i was surprised to read you only have 30g to 50g of carbs a day.
I;m on between 25 and 30g but looking at what i ate Friday it's no surprise i only managed 21g!!!!! no wonder i was so ill.
Things were much better when i hit the scales Sunday morning 138lbs!!! made the day before a little better, of course my weight soon went up as i must of been very dehydrated. Still it was good knowing that i had both feet on the scales and wasn't holding on to anything and i was under 10stone!!!!!! Wont be doing it again though, well not for a while anyway LOL

if i drop carbs below 30, bgs rise and so does weight.makes me feel ill as well.
took me a long time to get things right in maintenance.

Yes i bet it did Christine.
I must admit as much as i love this woe i am not looking forward to that part of the plan.
Mind you it took me a while to get things right in induction, infact it wasn't till after that i felt well. Fingers crossed i'll be lucky to find my balance as quickly
