Thanks, Doreen. I was confused about the pics on the threads. Now I see you need to link them from a web page. I should have more of the posts!

Your avatar looks great!

To post a picture in your signature, just go to "edit signature" in UserCP. You will see from there that there is a restriction on picture size.

Once you have a suitable pic you wish to add, just put [img*]the URL of your pic[/img*]
(Omit the *s)

Hi Susanne,

Your picture needs to be 100 by 100 pixels or less in size. Try going to www.myimager.com and shrinking it.

Why doesn't my pic show up to the left of my information. I am uploading an appropriate sized profile pic but I don't know where it is showing up at. I removed my avatar.

Your profile picture is in your profile - if you go to "user CP on the green bar above the posts you'll see that.
When you click on UserCP, you'll also see, "edit avatar". Just paste the picture that is currently your profile picture (assuming it is less than 100 x 100 pixels) into your avatar and you'll have an avatar picture. Good luck!

Thanks Rosebud. It isn't 100x100. I can't resize to that small with the two sites that I have seen. In fact, even clip art isn't that small, at least what I have found.

Your profile pic is 52 x 91 pixels, so should work as an avatar. Give it another go.

Rose, I will keep trying but here is what happened: I went to my profile pic, right clicked it and clicked on the Copy Image URL option. Then I pasted that in the avatar box that says paste URL here and here is the error message I got. Why can't this site make it easier to do this?

Error - cannot find an image at the specified URL. Please make sure that you have entered a valid URL.

When I browse my computer to insert the jpg image that is saved with the size you mentioned above, well below the 100x100, I get THIS error message.

The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 20000 bytes.

Okay. There are two ways of entering an avatar: one from the internet - that's what you tried to do - or (just below that) from your computer. That's the one you need to do. It says in a little box "browse". That will take you to "pictures" in your computer. You should be able to find your profile pic there.

If it helps any, it took me AGES to figure this out the first time I managed to get an avatar up.

Nope, as previously stated that didn't work either. I guess it isn't worth the time, energy or hassle.

I can understand your frustration, Vicki, and I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe someone else might have a better idea?
