All I have to say is that I have lost 50+ lbs. and I eat veggies for lunch and dinner(sometimes add a salad to breakfast if I feel like it). I sometimes eat a small apple when I don't have some berries. I also eat cantalope. Check out the Atkins' website to see what they have to say about vegetables, http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/26-666870.html and fruits, http://atkins.com/Archive/2003/2/10-469820.html

I prefer my science not rely too much on Methusala, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, or the superstitions handed down from 4000-year-dead folks, thanks.

Jeeze! Get over yourself. I wasn't talking to you to begin with. If you don't have any Christian beliefs, just skip my posts and don't respond. Your hateful post was not neccessary; but understandable!

have you ever studied biochemistry? do you know what is gluconeogenesi?
it is the simple way of making carbs from amminoacid and fats...the organ responsabile is liver. the hormons that took part are several: glucagone, GH, glucocorticoids as aldosterone....

Morgan –

I did not intend anything “hateful” in my remark, though I concede that the satire I made of your position was a bit biting.

I was merely trying to say that mixing religious myths with science (as you were doing by invoking Methuselah) is not good science. (It is not good religion, either, because it implies that religious beliefs can be subject to scientific review – they cannot be without undermining religious authority.)

Science deals only with things that can be verified in the real world. Religious faith deals with things that by definition CANNOT be verified in the real world.

There is no scientific evidence that anyone has ever lived to the ages proclaimed for Methuselah. Indeed, the evidence suggests human lifespans were, on average, well under 30 years until comparatively recently.
