Default Dr Oz on Ketogenic Diets, Today, May 18th

Heads Up. Dr. Oz has a segment on Ketogenic Diets today, Weds, May 18th.
Oh dear, let's hope he doesn't trash it like he did Gary Taubes.

Trailer interesting. I will try to remember to watch it but I'm not very good at remembering daytime shows.

I just saw it...not bad. A little history of its use in epilepsy and diabetes, his usual awful visuals(bad) showing foods turning into sugar (not so bad). Dr. Axe said Ketosis re-sets insulin levels, something he recommends when nothing else helps to lose weight but only for 30-90 days. Then they bring on three women who have been on it for a year one petite little thing who lost 75 pounds, a woman who lost 60 and her family 250. Sure that Axe's only use short term idea went right out the window for most viewers.

Then for the practical "what you eat" segment it was Drew Manning, the Fit2Fat2Fit guy. Has BPC for breakfast, eggs & bacon for lunch, bacon cheeseburger for dinner. Looked relatively high in protein but i didn't bother to work it out. And as the popular version goes, he said you have to eat 75% fat, which is not true if you have a lot of body fat to lose.

Dr. Oz closed with his thoughts 1. that it is not as sustainable as the other diets used on his show and 2. a problem eating "all that fat" IF you later fall off and eat high fat and high carb. I actually think this is a valid point, because so many media stories now write about "fat is back" and "bacon is ok" they often dont emphasize that LOW carb has to go with that.

I think Dr. Oz is such a hack - he's constantly out promoting one miracle-weight-loss-solution or another, usually w/him getting part of the profits.

Show is over and done already in my neck o' the woods. Not a bad job of "keto in a nutshell" in the trailer. But I have a hard time listening to Dr. Oz. And I worry that viewers will simply think, "There he goes again with one of his crazy cures."

Let me know how the rest of the presentation turns out. The credentials of Dr. Axe in the trailer didn't sound that convincing either.

A while back I signed up for a webinar by Dr Axe about gut health. It turned out to be more of a sales pitch for his new book. I wasn't impressed. I wasn't horrified either just underwhelmed. I've never watched DR OZ and since I have no TV I didn't even try this time either. I know what I know and that's enough for me.

Remarkable isn't it? There IS life without tv. Congrats on keeping yours un-besmirched by all the televised cr*p. We have a tv so old nobody would pick it up if we left it on the curb. But pushed back into the hearth of an inoperable fireplace, it makes a good screen for playing the Fireplace DVD. Very convincing. We can get enough local channels through rabbit ears for the occasional sports event or movie. And of course, Netflix DVDs.

I like getting my keto and other info from Diet Doc and his many, many consultants.

Ours, too! It's huge & we can't even give it away. Can't get anything on it here - we just used it for videos - the computer works best for that now. I think my son will be using it for target practice one of these days.

What's BPC?

Can't look that one up.

Never mind ... it's a coffee creation

Our favorite doctor might have dissed Gary Taubes on Low Carb, but he now embraces Tim Tebow's Ketogenic Diet!. A friend home ill alerted me to this new discussion in Dec 2016 of Ketogenic diets:

https://youtu.be/le5LHXjmgRA [Oz dumb graphic alert]

https://youtu.be/d2lGb1tlvX8 [minute 8, last half, dumb and dumber graphic alert, but watching Dr Oz rave about BPC was a classic]

We went total Internet tv. DH has a chronic illness, and I have my own challenges, so the option of watching shows is still a need.

Chromecast is an inexpensive gadget which can flip a video fro the co outer to the TV, but only works on new tvs with a HDMI port.

The Keto Diet again! Gosh, Dr. Oz is really getting into it. Though he was still surprised when he sees a large number of the audience are already following it.
Show with Suzanne Ryan and Mark Sisson.
