Default I'm cold!

Has anyone noticed being a little colder with this way of eating?

I am pretty sure it is due to the water I am drinking because I drink it cold. However, I will have to change this because my hands are freezing!!!

Anyone else notice?

When everyone else seems to be comfortable I'm cold. Before I lost weight, I was always hot, even when others weren't.

Wow, Sabby. I thought I was the only one having this problem. I'm sitting here at work in a turtle neck, denim shirt and the heater on. I can't drink cold water because my teeth are so sensitive and I don't think that's the problem. Even though it looks silly, I'm just wearing heavier clothes.

If someone comes up with a solution, please let me know.

I have noticed no change, but I only lost 27 lbs.

I have a theory though. Generally animals (which humans are) put on weight in the winter time I think as our own body heater. Maybe your body needs to get used to having less fat. If you have lost weight rapidly this might be the cause. It's not exactly scientific, but might be a possibility.

It's still summer weather in Florida, so that might be another reason I have noticed no change.

Hi PG, if you are unusually sensitive to temperature extremes, either cold or hot, it will almost certainly be because you are chronically deficient in either iodine or selenium or both. Take a look at the recent discussion on this very topic in the Intermittent Fasting thread (Countowns ,buddies, challenges section).

If this is the problem, you will know within 2 weeks of starting to take the super cheap, widely available, and completely safe requisite supplements.

Stuart.

Thanks, Stuart. I was keeping track of my eating in Fitday for a while and it constantly said I was low in selenium. I had no idea what it was and have been too busy to do any investigation. The iodine was always OK. Next time I go to the store, selenium will be in my hand. Great info, thanks.

So glad to know I am not the only one.
I have stopped drinking really cold water because I cannot stand it and the temperature in my office. I drive in my car with a little heat on my feet and I have blankets on both my couches now to keep warm.

When winter sets in, I may add a hot tea in the afternoons at work.

I started feeling cold for the first time last winter, but I attributed that to losing weight and just being smaller, not necessarily to the actual plan.

I feel cold when its cold outside ...sorry!!

I am mostly hot!! But that could be from menopause. I sleep with a ceiling fan going 24/7, over my bed. Last night it was cool outside(50s) and I closed my windows...only to crack them back open 10 minutes later. I had on a short sleeve sleepshirt and was sweating profusely and got out my sleevless one.

I also know that I do feel cold more now with all that layer of fat that is gone from my body.

But for you SabbyKay, I am a bit concerned that you are feeling so cold....when was the last time you had a check up with blood work done?

I'm freezing!! My family told me last night they have no idea what I am going to do when winter really gets here. I used to be sooooo hot natured. It has to have something to do with that built in layer of insulation that I've left along the way somewhere

I lived in Florida for most of my adult life, and as such now that I am in the NorthEast I am a whiny little hot house flower. I really think my blood thinned from the heat. Cause now I am always cold the minute it gets below 70 degrees :-(

Thanks for your concern Judy. I actually have an appointment with an endocrinologist next month to be sure. This "cold" thing only started in the last couple of months. The good thing is I can control the temperature in my office adn I have stopped with ice in my drinks. It has helped.

It may also be change of seasons. I went to college in Florida and boy did it change my veins! I cannot stand any kind of cold.

I feel your pain! 14 years in the Fort Lauderdale metro area has left me completely intolerant to cold. It's in the 60's in NJ now and I swear I am so cold my bones hurt.

DameMeow - thank you for seconding my emotion!!!
Who know I could change so much?!?!?!?
And I grew up in Arkansas with 4 seasons and pretty cold winters.

Still, the cold in Florida (Tallahassee area) hurts my bone and now I think all forms of cold hurt my bones.

Guess I am a wimp!

Sabby
