Lightbulb My Tanita scale arrived yesterday!

Well I'm going to have to change the figures in my avatar but it's very difficult to start thinking of myself as weighing 310 lbs when I thought I was at 284.

I can't believe my other scale by Roberts with a 330 lb higher limit was so way off the right numbers. I'm glad I got the new scale as it is great and no matter how I stand on it I get the same weight so I'm sure of its accuracy.

Still it means I'm still in the 300s and it probably also means that what I thought was a starting weight of 338 may have been as much as 360. Worse instead of having to lose 112 lbs to get to goal I now have to aim for 138. .

Oh well.

Oh btw I was stalled for much of last week and the week before that. I Did a refeed on Wednesday, was up by 5 lbs on Thursday (using old scale only got the other yesterday) have been on something akin to Stillman's ever since ie lowfat meat boiled eggs and no carbs and I'm according to the old scale back to my pre refeed weight as of this am. I'm looking forward to seeing the numbers drop on my new scale.

Well That's all for now. Has anyone else had a similar scale experience?

Nicckkii

PS: I still haven't changed avatar numbers :lol

It was really cheap $40.00. Digital, solar powered - no battery required, just good natural light. Weighs up to 330 lbs.

Still works well, though I've been getting a 2 lb difference sometimes when I weigh more than once at a weigh in. I find that acceptable as it's still very consistent.

Model HS-301 Solar Bathroom Scale

I bought mine online from these guys:

I had been using an old analog scale some years ago. I thought that it was accurate until I bought my Tanita. I discovered that the old analog scale was off by about 8 pounds. Oh well.

Why is it that when the old scales are wrong that they are never wrong in the good way? Why??

2Airedales:

Maybe they could market the low reading scales as "diet scales!" Buy one of these, and drop 10 pounds instantly!

Default My Tanita

I bought mine on sale at Sears...it was still 79$ canadian but down from 129$ so that seemed like a bargoon. I was okay with the weight, but it also calculates BMI, and I find it hard to believe that at 5.85' and 231 I am 52% BMI index. Every other index calculator I use online puts me more in the 34% range..still high but 52%? I emailed Tanita requesting an explanation but haven't heard back.

Default Oh And....

One day I was ticked at the scale I said I wasn't going to drink all my water that day. I was going to put it in the tub instead and hold my scale under until the bubbles stopped!

Default tanita scale

I recieved my Tanita scale Friday. I love the fact that the weights are repeatable. My body fat was within 2% of what the calculators have estimated. So far I am impressed with it.

I bought a $20 scale at Wal-mart. There's one of those big heavy expensive scales at the fitness center, but then someone tampered with it, so I started using my wal-mart scale. I came up with the same weight on both scales. It's a darn good scale.

Plus when I weigh myself on it, I weigh myself 3 times and take whichever weight comes up at least 2 of the 3 times. It usually only fluctuates by half a pound, which is pretty darn good.

I enjoy my scale.

Lucky for you missaec. you're one of the few fortunate ones. What's the brand name on your scale and what's the maximum weight? I expect that for most scales and most people under 250 a regular bathroom scale might be more reliable than for those of us at the higher end of 200 - 300s. Those regular scales are spring scales and after a short while the spring loses some of its elasticity and weight results become unstable and unreliable.

At my house I have 3 of those and both my kids get the same weight on them as on my Tanita. With me, the variations range from 12 to 28 lbs.

But, I'm glad for you and please keep up the good weight loss work.
