Default Strange Blood Sugar Reading AFTER exercise

I walk about 5 miles a day religiously...

The LC dieting has helped my BS tremendoulsy in a very short time frame.

For past three days before i exercise i take my BS reading it has been 105, 110, 107....AFTER I finish exercising I take it again 135, 133, 140. I was shocked to see it go out.

I have just water after execise no energy drinks or anything like that.

Very strange!

I believe in Dr. Bernsteins book he stats that BS can be raised during workouts. Because the body is calling up energy to be used while exercising and the insulin response is still slow to use it all.

I would read sections about that. He also recommends anaerobic exercise over aerobic exercise.

I do not have my books handy to quote the pages..

What's your walking intensity, for how long ?

When you draw down your available blood sugar from exercise, you need glucose from somewhere and your liver gets it from stored glycogen.

Something about an insulin rise after higher aerobic exercise in response to the shot of glucose from the liver.

Here's a chart from Katch-McCardle Physiology

Exercise can affect BGs in a variety of ways, and even worse, different exercises and sports are likely different. For a long time I had to inject Regular insulin before heavy gardening.

I'm so glad this thread was started. I do not typically have high bg after exercise. However a couple of times recently I've had high BG after gardening. I was also just plain hot and I'd wondered if the heat also somehow affected it. I just couldn't believe it coming in on an empty stomach and hours of gardening and finding my BG was up!
