Post 3rd Ottawa LC Gathering (Pot Luck Dinner) Friday, April 30th

I am set to have our third meeting at my place for the Ottawa LC Group. I can provide the main protein source in the form of beef and I believe that Wa'il is providing a Shepherds Pie (?).
We have a great time and great discussion afterwards.

I live in Old Ottawa South (near Carleton) between Bank and Bronson and will send out the address when we get the numbers sorted out.

Our house is a dry house so if you want beer or wine you would have to bring it. The same with any pop or soda. UNfortunately you will have to smoke outside if you smoke. I do have water, cream, half & half, coffee, Caff-Lib, etc. so don’t worry about that.
It would be nice to limit this meal to 15 Carbs (ECC) but that may not be possible with pot luck other than through personal choices of what will be available.
So let’s here it for our 3rd meetup.

I'm in

This shepherd's pie is ground beed on a bed of cauliflour topped with cheese.

However, this will depend on who's bringing what. Some may bring salad, dessert, soup etc, so the choices are flexibile.

Maybe we each could indicate what we're planning to bring, and Ottawa can make some changes based on if there are too many main courses, or too many salads, etc.

I hope you can make it as well. I'll include a map link and address tomorrow.

Tamarian,
Since you are bringing a protein dish, I remain flexible and will be able to do a vegetable and dessert if we end up short and drop my second protein.
I have been playing with various mousse combinations after seeing the article in the Citizen last month on a 3 layer chocolate cake. It won't be anything that fancy but likely berries and mousse over some type of pastry at 5 or 6 ECC carbs.

For anyone else in the Ottawa area, we always have a good time and you will get to see a few new dishes and how they are prepared. I talked my wife into being there as well although I had to trade off a few things.

She: "So your having a bunch of people over for dinner that you met on the Internet???"
Me: "Well ... err ... sort of, but I've met most of them at restaurants as well.
She: "So let me get this straight ... There may be people here that you won't even know???
Me: "Yes... I guess that's right but they're all low carb and you will like them."
She: "I think your crazy ... but if it's important I will be there."

SO if you want some interesting company this Friday and want to meet some successful Low Carbers, sign up below.

p.s.: She (my wife) drinks coffee, usually decaff, so there will be a pot on afterwards and I usually have a Caff-Lib or tea so there will be hot drinks available. For the trade off I took her to see "Kill Bill 2" this week and we are all set. ;-)

Thant sounds great.

Maybe if those who are coming can tell us what they'll be bringing?

This way we can sort out if we have too much main dishes, but no slads or appetizers, or the other way around.

But it should be fun, I'm looking forward to it.

Hey Ottawa,

I really hate to do this, but I will not be able to join you guys. Sorry for the late notice, but I've been swallowed into many little things lately, until I realised I only have today and tomorrow to file my tax returns, which is barely enough considering my accountancy skills!

Tamarian,
I am still forced to find a few more receipts for 2001 so I know what a pain it can be getting taxes done. I am on my third notice but am having a problem getting another RRSP sheet from the bank since I transferred accounts.

For May it may be better to try a restaurant instead since the Pot Luck idea may require a larger interest group before we try this again.

Rune,
If you have not already prepared something how does that sound. I still don't have a positive conformation and tomorrow is Friday. If I don't hear from you by then we will just cancel and do something different for May.

Yep sounds fine, I wasn't going to be able to make it in the end anyway

So, I'll be looking forward to our May gathering!
