Until Ive maintained for 2 years....I wont rest.....Ive seen others attain goal.....but return ....heavier...and more discouraged.....my next goal is to stay consistent in exercise....my weight under goal....until we do our active, adventurous vacation next late Sept.2015..London..Paris....the south of France.. Monaco.....Tuscany...Rome ..Naples....
....Austria...maybe even a diversion to what was once termed an Eastern Bloc country

hi Deborah-
I'm doing well, thank you. I am pretty stable right now, staying on my plan and keeping sugar and alcohol low. Now that cooler weather is starting, I find I can exercise more outside and want heavier stews and meats. Fine with me!
I'm also replying because it can be lonely here- lots of people post about losing/not losing but not too many of us posting about staying the same!

I'm still maintaining well, but it always requires focus. There is not much drama about maintaining, unlike the other threads with the ups and downs of losing and gaining. Also, those who maintain successfully for a while have mostly figured out how to do it, so there aren't many questions on the subject either. My weight fluctuates up and down a few lbs either side of goal. I constantly experiment in small ways with what, when, and how regarding eating, drinking, exercising and supplements. Currently I'm on a mission to boost my immune system, so supplements are more interesting to me than usual. I've also stopped all alcohol completely to aid in immune support. Other than small tweaks, though, it's pretty much the same old same old. In a nutshell (no pun intended) sugar and grains are still the devil and never to be messed with

I'm always impressed by people who haven't reached goal yet but who come over to the few maintenance threads to see what's going on. Those people understand that it isn't all over at GOAL! And they are the ones most likely to enjoy a successful maintenance.

I soooo agree......preparing for maintenance and viewing that as the most important part of the journey...the maintenance threads were invaluable during my weight loss stage.....and now even more so

Omg this is true on so many levels..

I come to these boards, I lose slowly over like a month, I have that slice/piece/bite and I struggle. Few days to restart, then - guilt-ridden I disappear from the bores, only to come back months later, 10s of pounds heavier..

Hi, I'm coco, and I'm a carboholic..

Seriously, you don't see people offering recovering alcoholics a "sip" of booze!

I am in maintenance. I am maintaining my good health. If I eat too many carbs, in the forms of grains and sugar, I will get diabetes and high blood pressure again. I will not do that no matter what is in front of me. I do allow a few extras, birthday, Christmas and 1 pc of bread if it is a special bread at a restaurant, but I do not need them. They do not have the hold over me they had before.

I researched and experimented with eating and ketosis. I have a good understanding of my body here. I do not weigh or track food, I know what I am eating now. I am a size 10 and love me here. I am comfortable in ketosis. I am maintaining.

I have been in maintenance for 6.5 months....I have no illusions that Ive "got it"..I ve lost another 11 lbs...and Ive reached a very low number..Im a sz Xsm...sz 2 and a few sz 0...I don't know if this is sustainable...or even healthy....I eat without feeling deprived....I exercise 5 hrs a week..and find that brings me life and joy and a positive view of life..

Does it amuse or annoy you when a new member joins this amazing website with all it's wealth of information, reads heartfelt advice from people who sincerely don't want to see them fail, and then takes offense because they don't like the advice? Or, my personal favorite today, condescends to people who tried to help by saying that most of them on an entire thread didn't understand the question. Reminds me of the old expression "My wife doesn't understand me" to which the answer is "My dear, she understands you only too well!".
