Default I Don't Believe It!

I purchased the Jillian Michael Get Shredded in 30 Days video a couple of months ago but got seriously discouraged when I saw all the deep knee movements (lunges & jumping jacks). I've had a lot of pain in both my knees, but moreso my right one that has pretty much affected my quality of life for the past 3 years so all I've been able to do with Jillians DVD workout were the non-impact portions.

Well apparently all the yoga/pilates, strength training, & swimming I've been doing has made me & my knees stronger.

Oh my God you guys today I did half of the video as a warmup to get me ready for my swim laps today & I did 20 jumping jacks & 20 lunges. I'm most excited about the jumping jacks though because knee pain or not, before I couldn't even lift my body to even do an actual jumping jack. I'm so excited I could cry.

Afterwards I completed 30 swim laps today. Most with no stopping in between laps & the others with 5 to 10 second intervals.

Seems like I'm getting stronger & stronger with each workout which just gives me more motivation for the next one.

Man! I can't believe I did jumping jacks!

Wonderful! I haven't started an exercise program yet, but you inspire me! It's great your knee pain is subsiding - think of all the things you will be able to do now. Congratulations on the jumping jacks!

I love your story - exercise can be so healing. I started running thinking it might help a 20 year old chronic knee problem. Since I started, it's never come back. I never have to worry about sitting in the airplane causing days of severe pain anymore. You are an inspiration!

Thank you ladies. I appreciate the feedback & support.

This morning I got up full of energy (i guess so since I slept all day Sunday) I walked the dog, completed one hour of yoga/pilates, 30 minutes Jillians DVD, & then went crazy scrubbing the kitchen from top to bottom. lol

This time I was able to complete 52 jumping jacks & 30 squats. Note: I called them lunges earlier but I stand corrected; it was the squats I was able to do. Still can't do the lunges as of yet - they're still causing pain in my knees. Oh well, no worries, I'm going to stick with what I can do for now.

Aren't squats amazing? I love them! I need to get moving with lunges, too.

I love them (squats) because I can do them.

I wish Jillian did all her floor work at one time then all the stand-up work. Heck! You get a good workout just from going up & down on the floor. It's like she can't make up her mind what the heck she wants to do next.

Thank goodness for the pause button so I can catch my breath between sets.

I'm sitting here icing my right knee now and will let it rest 24 hours more before I let it do jumping jacks & squats again. So today I did mostly upper body strength training & some lower body, but nothing that required knee impact.

Tomorrow totally low impact day 'cause that's a swim day.

Awesome job!

The first time I walked into a hot yoga class, I could see ppl looking at me and smirking - you could tell they thought I'd never make it.

Well, I DID - when I left the class, I had the smirk! And, now I go at least 3x / week. (Last week, I did a freakin' headstand for the first time , and you couldn't get the smile off my face!).

It's amazing when we shatter the narrow definition of what we think (or what ppl think) we are capable of. I guess a 250lb girl can do hot yoga... and run... and do jumping jacks...
