Default Vietnamese Simmer Sauce

I saw this at the store & thought I'd give it a try. I bought the Lemon Basil & wow! - does it ever punch up the flavor! I'd gotten tired of plain sardines & tried a couple spoonfuls - heated them up together. Very good! I was too lazy to make my usual salad dressing so tried a spoonful mixed with mayonnaise. Also very good! More experiments coming up.

It's 1g carb/tablespoon, so not bad. Gluten & dairy free.

Now I'm going to have to try the other flavors. Hope the local store has it - I found this at Fred Meyer/Kroger in Spokane. A bit of a drive for regular shopping.

The only drawback is that according to the label, it won't last more than a week in the fridge. Don't know if I can use it all up in a week. It might freeze OK - need to try it.

What's the brand name?

I've successfully frozen Thai curry paste. It seemed fine in recipes later. I have a mini ice cube tray that was perfect for it - the cubes are probably 2 tsps. Then I kept them in a storage container.

Star Anise Foods. When I made a stop at my regular store I checked out the Asian section & found out that simmer sauces are a thing - tho they didn't have this brand. I think I need to get out more.

DIdn't have time to check out all the ingredient lists & carb counts, but they all seemed to be tomato based. I prefer the non-tomato.

I'll have to try freezing them. Based on the ingredients, it seems like it should work.
